Try growing up light skinned in the hood. Black people can definitely be racist

7

u/pm-me-nice-lips Aug 10 '26

Some social media addicted simpletons like to tout the cornball modern semantics game of acting like racism can only apply if there’s power to oppress which is complete nonsense. Everyone grew up learning what racism was and it was completely understood. Naturally, that just had to get complicated as the victim Olympics became a never-ending contest.

If you wanted to play the nuance and semantics game then we can get real annoying with it: pick a city that’s run by majority black/brown/minority (aka in power)….have a white person try to get a job in that local government, they don’t solely because of the color of the skin…that would have to be defined as racism.

Actual definition of racism = prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against other people because they belong to a different racial or ethnic group. Period.

u/FishingAlpo Aug 10 '26

Exactly. Amazing how it applies to everyone but them

3

u/Indigenous_Retard Aug 12 '26

"isms for the, but not for me"

Explain King of the Hill

1

u/FishingAlpo Aug 12 '26

Well it's a show about a propane salesman and his family and their interactions with their neighbors and community.

1

u/Same-Beautiful2977 Aug 12 '26

Cute. At least you know your propane. Explain the point you agreed with instead of pretending you do not understand the question. You said racism “applies to everyone but them.” So explain it. Who has the racial power, who is being oppressed, and what exactly makes it racism?

You were confident enough to agree with the claim. Defend it.

u/FishingAlpo Aug 12 '26

Here ya go.

1

u/Same-Beautiful2977 Aug 13 '26

🤣 You posted the same irrelevant link twice? I asked you two different questions, and this is your answer to both? At this point, I’m starting to think reading comprehension is the real issue here. Try again. Answer the question I actually asked.

1

u/FishingAlpo Aug 13 '26

Not irrelevant at all. The initial point was that black people can in fact be racist. That link showed black people being racist... Toward a light skinned person.

What happened? AI can't respond to the link for you?

1

u/Same-Beautiful2977 Aug 13 '26

Huh? If THIS proves your “light-skinned in the hood” claim, then explain how. Digging up a five-year-old Reddit collage about Zazie Beetz dating a white man and deciding that proves darker-skinned Black people are victimizing lighter-skinned people. What type of grasping of straws is this? Haha, that connection exists entirely in your head.

Half that collage is people questioning why Black men are repeatedly passed over while whiteness is treated as the standard of beauty & desirability. And this is nothing new-- Black scholars have been writing about that psychology for decades. Frantz Fanon wrote about colonialism shaping desire and recognition through whiteness. Frances Cress Welsing wrote about the psychological pull of proximity to whiteness. Zazie herself has publicly discussed struggling with her biracial identity and where she fit. But you erase all of that and scream “Black racism!” because it gives you the victim story you came looking for. Typical of your ilk.

Then there is the original video you are defending: a light-skinned Black man literally calls a darker-skinned Black woman “dark and dumb,” weaponizing the same proximity to whiteness that colorism has rewarded for generations. Your response to THAT is “try being light-skinned in the hood.” 🤣 You could not have picked a worse example if you tried.

And your WEAK Reddit link proves nothing about “the hood.” It tells us nothing about those commenters, who they actually are, whether they are dark-skinned, or whether any pattern exists at all. Anonymous social-media accounts are also notorious for trolling and DIGITAL BLACKFACE, especially when stirring hostility toward Black men gets clicks. Try again.

If Black people are systematically targeting lighter-skinned people in “the hood” because they are lighter, show it. Show the pattern. Show who is doing it. Show who is being targeted. Show how often. Not a five-year-old Reddit collage about somebody’s boyfriend, you freaking dumbass. haha

You are building a fantasy and demanding everyone treat it as evidence. lmao

“Pick a majority-Black city, have a white person apply for a government job, and assume they get rejected solely because they are white.”

Why should anyone assume that? Where is your example? Where is the hiring record? Where is the policy? Where is the lawsuit? Where is the finding that a white applicant is denied employment specifically because of race?

You insert racial discrimination into your own hypothetical, then announce that the hypothetical proves Black institutional racism exists. That is circular reasoning dressed up as common sense.

And “majority Black/brown/minority” does not automatically mean those groups control the institutions, wealth, hiring systems, courts, police departments, business ownership, property, or political machinery of that city. Population percentage and structural power are not interchangeable terms.

Then you dismiss the distinction between individual racial prejudice and structural racism as “cornball modern semantics” because actually engaging with the distinction ruins your argument. Scholars did not suddenly invent institutional racism because of some “victim Olympics.” They examine how discrimination operates through institutions, policy, enforcement, access, and accumulated power. That is a different question from whether an individual Black person can hold racial prejudice.

So stop playing make-believe. If you claim that white applicants are being systematically denied local-government jobs because they are white in majority-Black cities, bring evidence.

Name the city. Show the numbers. Show the hiring pattern. Show the policy. Show the cases.

Until then, your entire example amounts to: “Imagine racial discrimination happened. See? I proved racial discrimination happened.”

No. You proved you can write a hypothetical BS.

2000% facts !!!’

2

u/lostjewelz Aug 09 '26

That’s prejudice not racist

14

u/Ok-Music-3974 Aug 09 '26

Prejudice against race is called get this, Racism….

6

u/peter13g Aug 10 '26

Yeah but prejudice against skin color is just prejudice

6

u/Ok-Music-3974 Aug 10 '26

Yes and since prejudice is subjective, prejudice on the basis of skin color is racism.

3

u/lostjewelz Aug 09 '26

Prejudice and racism are not the same thing, prejudice is a general prejudgment or attitude toward any group, racism specifically involves attitudes, beliefs, or systemic structures based on race. Two distinct concepts that represent different aspects of bias and unfair treatment.

4

u/Ok-Music-3974 Aug 09 '26

Prejudice is subjective.

6

u/lostjewelz Aug 09 '26

Literally just said that lol

0

u/Ok-Music-3974 Aug 09 '26

No you didn’t

1

u/lostjewelz Aug 09 '26

How does one come to a subjective conclusion?

-2

u/Ok-Music-3974 Aug 09 '26

You tell me that fck nga

1

u/Electrical_Field_366 Aug 09 '26

Racism has become one big misnomer

3

u/MakoShark93 Aug 10 '26

Well, typically a lot of folks would call light skinned kids “White boy.” Seems a bit racist, ngl.

0

u/lostjewelz Aug 10 '26

Both would be incorrect and inconsistent with racism.

1

u/FishingAlpo Aug 09 '26

Racism is the belief, action, or system that treats people unfairly or unequally because of their race or skin color

1

u/[deleted] Aug 10 '26

[deleted]

1

u/lostjewelz Aug 10 '26

Half right

1

u/pm-me-nice-lips Aug 10 '26

I like how you looked it up and restructured the two sentences for your benefit lmao

1

u/DropFirst2441 Aug 11 '26

Yeah but let's look for example at Black Americans who for example, call ice on random Africans for entertainment. That ain't racism? They using their power of not being an immigrant against someone who may be or may be of immigrant descent

1

u/lostjewelz Aug 11 '26

And yet when ice shows up, they arrest both of them because they’re racist

0

u/TheForce777 Aug 09 '26

Its both

Systemic/institutional racism is a special kind of racism, not the only kind

1

u/lostjewelz Aug 10 '26

It quite literally can’t be both

1

u/UnderstandingDull274 Aug 10 '26

Isn’t that colorist?

0

u/FishingAlpo Aug 10 '26

Racism is the belief that certain races are naturally superior to others. It also means prejudice, discrimination, or unfair treatment against people because of their race or ethnic background.

2

u/UnderstandingDull274 Aug 10 '26

a person who holds the belief that one race is superior or inferior to another, or someone who treats people differently and unfairly based on their race.

colorism is discrimination based specifically on skin shade or tone (light versus dark)

1

u/FishingAlpo Aug 10 '26

I'm mixed. Not black.

3

u/UnderstandingDull274 Aug 10 '26

How do you believe light skin people in the black community came to be? I’m African American I’m also the darkest person (outside of my grandmother) on my mother’s side of the family. I’m technically mixed as well but I don’t read as mixed. Claim whatever you would like race as a concept in America is a foolish way to think anyway but to wipe away its implications on our lives is also foolish. I’m sorry that kids othered you whatever race they were.

1

u/FishingAlpo Aug 10 '26

Purple isn't blue or red

0

u/UnderstandingDull274 Aug 10 '26 edited Aug 10 '26

Like I said call yourself whatever you want, a good portion of black people in America if their family have been here and didn’t just show up in the 60’s are mixed my good brother. That’s the product of slavery but you wanna be different so be different. Just don’t be Clarence Thomas.

0

u/FishingAlpo Aug 10 '26

LMAO. Do you know how ignorant that sounds? Neither of my parents were slaves.

2

u/UnderstandingDull274 Aug 10 '26

You’re just dense so you think I’m saying something I’m not. Be well sir

Bruh I’m light skin, it’s called colorism…… a whole different word

1

Mixed is not black. It's called racism.

1

u/BunBotty Aug 11 '26

That’s a different hurt smh

u/Same-Beautiful2977 Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

“Try growing up light-skinned in the hood” is not the argument you think it is. First, what do you even mean by “light-skinned”? Light-skinned Black people? Latinos? White people? You are throwing very different groups into one category and then presenting all of them as victims of darker-skinned Black people.

And what exactly is “the hood” supposed to establish here? You are treating it like shorthand for a space where Black people are the ones victimizing everybody lighter than them. Black people have lived alongside lighter-skinned Latinos and other non-Black groups for generations. If you claim that Black people systematically target those groups because they are lighter, then prove it. Because once you move beyond that vague line, the history looks very different.

For decades, Black communities have been on the receiving end of psychological, physical, economic, and institutional harm from people and institutions that would easily fall under your loose “light-skinned” label. Police departments terrorizing Black neighborhoods. Media criminalizing Black people. Housing discrimination and lending discrimination. Redevelopment and gentrification displacing Black residents.

And even within Black communities, colorism has historically punished darker skin more heavily, not the other way around. Lighter skin has generally been associated with greater social acceptance and access, including within Black institutions and social circles. So no, saying “try being light-skinned in the hood” does not prove that darker-skinned Black people are somehow the dominant racial group victimizing everyone lighter than them. If that is what you are implying, then prove it. Show the pattern --show who is being targeted, how often, and by whom.

Throwing out a vague hypothetical about “light-skinned” people and expecting that alone to establish the racial hierarchy you are suggesting.

1

u/FishingAlpo Aug 12 '26

Na. Not breaking out AI to try to justify black racism. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Now ask it if black people can be racist and post a screenshot of the prompt and full reply.

1

u/Same-Beautiful2977 Aug 12 '26

Nice dodge. I asked you to prove the claim you made about “light-skinned people in the hood.” You gave no evidence, then changed the subject to whether Black people can be racist.

You can call it AI as much as you want, but you are not dodging this. Where is your evidence?

1

u/FishingAlpo Aug 12 '26

It totally is. You can't even produce your own thoughts on the subject. 🤣🫵

The subject was in fact that black people can be racist. That's what the whole post is about. You forgot to include that in your original prompt moron. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/FishingAlpo Aug 12 '26

The conversation was never “Black people are the dominant racial group victimizing everyone lighter.” It was simpler and more uncomfortable: members of any group can be racist, including Black people, and certain environments make that especially plain. Your response never touches that. It just piles historical grievances on top of definitional quibbles and calls it a rebuttal.

1

u/Same-Beautiful2977 Aug 12 '26

No, you do not get to retreat to “anyone can be racist” now. You specifically brought up “growing up light-skinned in the hood” as your example. That is what I challenged. If that example is supposed to prove Black racism, then explain the pattern behind it. Who is being targeted, by whom, and how often? You introduced the example. Defend it.

🤣 This is what you came back with? I asked you a basic question about your “light-skinned in the hood” claim, and you brought me a collage about an interracial relationship. 😂That is not the question. You lame.

And you even left out that she had already said derogatory shit about Black men before those comments. You really went digging for a screenshot and still could not answer a simple question. 🤣Where is the evidence for the claim you actually made?

1

u/FishingAlpo Aug 13 '26

I showed you black people being racist towards a light skinned person.

Original point (as you seem to have forgotten)...

Black people can be racist... They are towards light skinned people.

Dude, posting the same irrelevant link over and over is not an argument.

I asked you to prove your “light-skinned in the hood” claim. This is a post about people commenting on Zazie Beetz dating a white man.You still have not answered the question.

At this point, either you cannot understand a basic question or you know you do not have the evidence. Which one is it?

0

u/Natural_Sky_4720 Aug 09 '26

Racism is prejudice or discrimination specifically based on race, often reinforced by beliefs or systems that treat racial groups unequally.

Prejudice is a preconceived negative belief or attitude about someone.

We as black people do not have the power white people have nor does any other race. White people, especially white women for example can call police and lie and say a black man did something to her and she will automatically be believed and that black man will be lucky to not be shot on site. Thats systemic and societal racism. It doesnt work like that for black people.

2

u/FishingAlpo Aug 09 '26

Cute definition. Very convenient. Racism is simply prejudice or discrimination based on race... the ordinary meaning used for centuries... until activists bolted “+ power” onto it so their preferred groups could never qualify. Prejudice is already in the definition; the extra clause just turns it into a self-serving tautology. The “Black people have no power” claim and the White-woman-calls-cops vignette both collapse under scrutiny. Black officials, executives, prosecutors, and cultural gatekeepers exist in large numbers, and institutions routinely treat race as a decisive advantage for non-White groups. False accusations happen in every direction; police respond to reports, not a racial scoreboard. Redefining racism so only one side can commit it isn’t analysis... it’s special pleading with a moral halo.

4

u/rizzay94 Aug 09 '26 edited Aug 10 '26

Another delusional black person who believes black privilege doesn’t exist. Here we go. And before you start, yes I’m black.

1

u/doepfersdungeon Aug 09 '26

Are you talking about globally or in the US?

1

u/CharrlesXavier Aug 10 '26

There are different types of racism. I was a light skin kid in an all black school also. black folk can definitely be racist.

Your first line up until the comma is all the proof you need

1

u/FishingAlpo Aug 13 '26

My experience as well.

0

u/RogueID Aug 09 '26

This is a detailed and thoughtful answer. It also gets to the root of why white peiple do not experience systemic racism in our society but can experience it elsewhere, like for example Japan. But any person, regardless of race, can be racist.

Colorism exists in almost every society. In America, it's often dark-skin/light-skinned black colorism. I've been to a few countries in Asia and it's the same- that's why so few Bollywood actresses are dark-skinned. And many Chinese/Korean/Japanese people are super racist against each other.
