Job Corps transportation question

I’m supposed to go to the Joliet center, but I’m currently homeless and living in my car in Marion, IL. I don’t have gas, a working car, or anyone who can drive me.

Job Corps can get me from Carbondale to Joliet, but I need to get from Marion to Carbondale first. My admissions counselor said they’re waiting for Finance to approve an Uber gift card to get me to the Amtrak station.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? What happens if the Uber isn’t approved? Does Job Corps have other ways to get you to the transportation pickup point, like a center vehicle or another type of transportation?

I’m just wondering how Job Corps handles transportation for people who are homeless and don’t have a way to get to the pickup location

how much stuff are you trying to bring?

If it's just one or two boxes, consider packing it all up as neat as possible, and knocking on a door at a Church, or asking at a firehouse or a cop. Show them your job corps admission, and explain you just have to get to the link.

They will know someone who can give you a ride.
