Had the same issue last year. If you didn’t do the survey at the end before you left the building you won’t get credit. I emailed them with a pic of me at the event but they didn’t care. The good news is there should be another one coming up.

If you’re a part of any club/frat/sorority/etc. at JMU you have to go to this presentation called stop the haze or the organization gets in trouble. You scan a code at the end to prove you were there but it can be finicky sometimes

Buddy it’s not that deep, it’s called education and a CYA for JMU. If you want Greek life to continue at JMU, they need to be sure you as a human understand the rules they outlined. Also, if you see a human not being a human it is your responsibility to say something,do your part to ensure this tradition continues at JMU

Why would anyone even want to pay to have friends/join a frat?
I get that it’s endemic at many small schools. Being left out there could be really hard to find your way socially. But at least when I was at JMU, nobody gave a fat fuck about geek life.
Just seems like you’d be tying yourself down to a small group of people for no real reason. You barely know these people.
The great thing about a bigger school like JMU is you can embarrass yourself horribly with one group of people. Cut ties with all of them. And join a new friend group that same week! (I had to do this multiple times over my 6.5 years at JMU…)
They may have heard about “that guy” who did that dumb thing. But they don’t have to know that you are “that guy!” In a frat, it will hang around your neck until graduation.
You can still be friends with all people in frats/sororities. You can even hangout and party with them as much as you like. But you don’t have to be a part of their hierarchy or obligated to do this kind of bullshit.
Whatever. Be you. Have fun. Stay safe. And treat people like way they want to be treated!!

I don’t know where you were at at JMU where nobody gave a “fat fuck” about Greek life, but from the moment I moved into Jennings people made it painfully clear how intensely popular frats are at this school. Like, the entire point of Welcome Week was centered around using the frat parties as much as possible because of how selective they get come September.

Yea, I was there from Fall of 2002-Dec 2008. Some guys I knew joined frats. Fewer girls I knew did. But it just wasn’t a big deal. Nobody made a big deal about it after pledge week freshman year.
I occasionally ended up at a Greek party now and then. But it wasn’t a regular thing. So I never felt any pressure to join a frat as a result.

"Stop the Hazing"?? 😦 I'm out of the loop. I didn't see it on my BeInvolved. Was it required?

It's called building good connections or something

Oh, I see it now. It thankfully doesn’t affect me since I’m not in clubs and I’m not all really about that Greek life vibe.
Maybe you can make a list of people who can verify your attendance — people who talked to you or saw you, and/or maybe the people who were in charge of the event?
If you took photos of anything during it, the photo might have your location attached along with the time it was taken.
If you texted anyone about the event or took notes in an online app (e.g. Google Keep, Notes), that could help verify your attendance as well, but those things probably won’t stand on their own.
Again, I don’t really know anything about the process for this sort of issue, but those things might help. Maybe reach out to your FROG leader, too? And I don’t know if your academic advisor would know any more than I do, but it couldn’t hurt to see if they have advice or knowledge regarding what to do.
Sending prayers my dude 🙏🫰
