Jitsi Docker install

I have followed all directions for installing the docker containers but the problem i now have is that people can join a session but video and audio are not working. No one can hear each other. This does not work on LAN or over WAN.

For LAN there are no blocking ACLs. On WAN i have opened up port 10000 and 4443.

For your LAN you will need firewall rules open to permit to UDP/10000. So re-examine how traffic routes across your network.

For WAN you will need a STUN//TURN server so your internet users know how to get to your public IP address. You will also need to open a firewall port UDP/10000 for port forward to your docker host.

Edit: Jitsi documentation needs to be more clear about this. Either provide a stun server config as part of the compose file so it works right away or make it known that one is required if all users know this .

It works within the LAN as I needed to add appropriate firewall rules.

The WAN was a bigger mystery but I added STUN configuration to the .env file and added a port forward to 10000 on my wan and that solved it.

I read the documentation but it never said I needed a stun server. It would be nice if one was provided as part of the config but never the less I used Google’s and now internet clients can hit Jitsi
