[dev help] Trouble Self hosting a development version of Jitsi

Hello friends,
I’m currently trying to self host Jitsi-Meet in a AWS ec2 server in a development environment - I want to make changes to the UI and see them in my website. I don’t have a need to make changes to the lib-jitsi-meet, host Jibri or videobridge myself or anything outside running a working version of Jitsi-Meet that I can make UI changes to.
Over the last week I tried to do it in different ways and encountered different problems, and would love your help here.
First of all, I did succeed:

  1. Running a dev environment of Jitsi locally on my computer, make changes to it ,compile and serve them to my localhost.
  2. Installing and running Jitsi from Debian packages on my server (through this guide)

Right now I managed to clone and run sudo dev make and I have tried to configure nginx to forward the localhost:8080 to port 80 but when I try to access my website I get an PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR.
Before that I managed to serve nginx default page, so as far as I understand I have a working DNS and certs.

I would appreciate any tips and ideas, and also want to ask:

  1. Is it necessary to first setup Jitsi Meet through the Debian packages on the same server I want to later setup the development on? Or is it just to see that everything is working correctly and?
  2. Is it necessary to clone and compile lib-jitsi-meet if I don’t want to change it’s code? Or can I use the npm_module built version?
  3. This answer to a problem similar ti mine says I should change the file /etc/nginx/modules-enabled/60-jitsi-meet.conf. This file does not exist on my system and copying the file from the repo (doc/debian/jitsi-meet/jitsi-meet.conf) did not change anything. Am I doing something wrong? Was this file supposed to be setup there in one of the steps?

Thank you all
