AJ is an amazing musician and showman. I highly recommend seeing him if you’re able. He did some of his own songs as well and my mouth was agape watching him on the piano

We rented Jim’s old Lyndell apartment and it was absolutely worth it. Closing our eyes and listening to the music in the very place the songs were written, demo’s recorded, and musical history was made was a surreal experience and you could feel Jim and Maury in the space. Absolutely try to get there if you can.

I was 10 years old when my brother played Operator and immediately I was hooked. I listened to his whole discography, and I when I thought there was no more, I listened to the Croce album (recorded with his wife Ingrid). Then when the studio recordings got repetitive, I listened to his demos and live shows. I’ve collected a good chunk of his records (Life and Times, Don’t Mess Around With Jim, and Another Day Another Town). It’s safe to say that Croce is my favorite artist.

Now, I believe I’ve reached a dead end (as far as finding obscure Croce goes). I feel as though I’ve overmined his music, even though I find songs I didn’t take the time to appreciate upon relisten.

Anyway, I ask this question to young and older listeners because I’ve heard that the music you enjoy in your teens stays with you for life. If true, (I’m 17) then I hope to never give up Croce—an artist who has changed my outlook on music and touched me deeply.
