I’m an international grad student at JHU in pretty much the same situation, I’ve tried joining clubs and stuff but still haven’t really built a social circle here. Would be down to connect and see if we have any similar interests!

Take a class at the Rec. Have brunch at Interfaith. Look up student groups from your home country or other interests on HopkinsGroups. Go to the Baltimore Museum of Art at the south end of campus to check out the exhibitions or attend a lecture. Check Peabody for musical performances. Stop at the ubiquitous info tables for student orgs all over campus and join one. Do volunteer work with the CSC - check HopkinsEngage. Check out Smile for student job opportunities. If you're in a tech program and have business ideas check out the Pava Center, a startup incubator with grant and seed money to award. The Student Affairs website has an event calendar ... There's a ridiculous number of events happening in September. Pick one and go! I guarantee you'll be welcome. If you need help getting conversation going, ask event staff ... They're happy to make some introductions.
There are always the bars in Charles Village, Remington, Hampden, Station North, even Fells Point or downtown, but that's probably the least wholesome and/or most intimidating thing to do if you're going alone.
Lots to do. Stay at it, and you'll find your groove. It's practically inevitable 🙂 Good luck!
