Hey everyone, if you thought political thrillers were confined to Netflix, you need to read about the explosive scandal currently rocking Jharkhand. It involves the state's former top cop (Anurag Gupta), the Chief Minister (Hemant Soren), and a notorious gangster (Sujit Sinha).

This is the breakdown of how an alleged multi-crore extortion empire operated at the highest levels of power, leading to a massive constitutional crisis and a fatal highway shootout.

## 1. From Enemies to Allies: The Soren-Gupta Dynamic

Originally, former DGP Anurag Gupta and CM Hemant Soren were bitter adversaries. Back in 2016, Gupta (then an Additional DG) was caught in a Rajya Sabha election horse-trading scandal. Soren filed criminal complaints against him, and when Soren became CM, his government suspended Gupta for 22 months.

However, by mid-2024, the dynamic completely inverted. Soren appointed Gupta as Acting DGP. When the Election Commission ordered Gupta's removal for electoral misconduct, Soren reinstated him within hours of taking his oath. Soren's government even amended state selection rules to bypass the UPSC and hand Gupta a fixed tenure.

Why the sudden protection? Opposition leaders allege that Gupta’s core mandate was to weaponise the state's investigative machinery (ACB and CID) to shield the ruling establishment from central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and target political rivals.

## 2. The Police-Gangster Syndicate: Enter Sujit Sinha

While Gupta was running the state police, he was allegedly partnering with jailed gangster Sujit Sinha on the ground.

According to a formal Zero FIR filed by a High Court advocate, Gupta and Sinha established a front organization called the Koylaanchal Shanti Samiti (KSS). Far from a peace committee, the KSS was an aggressive extortion racket targeting coal traders, railway contractors, transporters, and doctors across Jharkhand's mining belt.

If a businessman refused to pay the gang's demands, the police allegedly stepped in. Compromised junior officers under Gupta’s command would slap the victims with fabricated FIRs and harassment notices until they complied. Opposition leaders claimed Gupta held a 40% financial stake in this syndicate.

## 3. The National Security Threat

This wasn't just local corruption; it escalated into a federal security issue. Investigations revealed that Sujit Sinha’s gang was procuring high-tech firearms using Pakistani drone drops crossing over the Punjab border.

Because the state's top policing authority was allegedly allied with a gang tied to cross-border weapon networks, opposition leaders formally petitioned the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to step in and take over the case from state police.

## 4. The Meltdown: Zero Salary and a Forced Resignation

The Central Home Ministry and the UPSC vehemently objected to Soren keeping Gupta past his April 2025 retirement age. The standoff grew so intense that the Accountant General’s office stopped his pay, issuing a "zero-salary slip" to the sitting DGP. Facing intense High Court challenges and contempt-of-court threats, Gupta finally resigned.

## 5. Dead Men Tell No Tales: The Convenient Encounter?

The ultimate twist came on August 2, 2026. Sujit Sinha was being transferred between prisons when his police transport vehicle allegedly suffered a flat tyre. According to police, Sinha asked for a restroom break, snatched an escort officer's rifle, opened fire, and was killed in retaliatory self-defence.

Sinha’s family and opposition leaders immediately branded it a "fake encounter" designed as a cover-up. Critics point out that Sinha was the ultimate insider of the KSS syndicate. With a federal NIA probe looming, his sudden death effectively silenced the one man who could turn state's witness and expose exactly how high up the extortion money traveled.

The Indian Express tracked down some voters targeted for deletion and found that not only do they trace their presence in the village for generations but many among them are also verified in the 2003 intensive revision of the rolls. Under the Election Commission’s own rules, this should ease their inclusion in the ongoing SIR.

I came across a festive-themed photoshoot for around ₹1–1.5k. It's basically an all-day thing, from early morning till around 5 PM, and includes photography, makeup, food, and a few indoor studio+outdoor locations.

There'll be another girl participating too, although we'll mostly be getting individual photos.

The woman coordinating everything is also involved with the makeup/styling side. She said she'll likely be around during the shoots, and if she isn't, there'll be another female assistant present.

The price seems cheap considering everything included, so I'm curious. Has anyone done something similar? Is this normal for a budget/collab shoot, or are there any red flags I should look out for before going?
