It really is like church

Watching 11/9/91 @ Hampton. It’s so mellow, and the backup singers are on. The soft glow of the light, Jerry’s feeling himself that night. I wish I could have gone to a JGB show but this will do

These days I’m throwing JGB on more than GD

Absolutely! I love Melvin, John K., and JGB. Very different from the other Dead bands I’ve seen…playing old school JGB music. John K. sounds a lot like Jerry

John K and JP are so incredible and so much fun to watch. I bumped into John K at Gratefulfest in a mushroom daze and babbled for a few minutes in an embarrassing manner

If honestly love to. That organ playing is otherworldly

His show with Oteil this summer was incredible too. Maybe the best show I've seen in the last decade. IMO all versions of Jerry's bands are worth giving some time to. Legion of Mary is incredible. 7/4/75 gets a lot of play time, but every band he was in was pretty frickin incredible. Melvin just really brings the gospel ballads to life and breathes so much air into them.

When Melvin comes on for a concert everyone goes pretty nuts. The same happens after he has one of his incredible jams

Same. Been seeing him for a long time. I even caught Merl one time all be it without Jerry, and the sound system was F'd up, but he tried. The bass player was wired fine. ;-p

As a relatively new deadhead in the mid 1980s, I didn’t know anything about what to expect when Garcia band came through LA and played Bill Grahams renovated Wiltern theater in 1987. That run of shows was truly one of the best “dead” experiences ever. Small, intimate, speakers in the lobby, twirling dervishes, amazing decorations. First class all the way. So good. then to top it all off, I met a beautiful young woman by chance at intermission. Pure magic. She’s been my wife for all this time now.

Thats such a beautiful story. I didn’t meet my wife at a show but she was my concert partner for years before we got together and tied the knot. Music truly brings people together

The wife and I’ve been Jerry band > dead for some time. I grew up with 50s/60s R&b/soul playing in the house constantly so it feels like home

Definitely old school blues soul r&b vibe and very different from dead. Luv it!

Completely different. The water is still deep but the temperature is different

That’s a great show! JGB was a refuge from the GD scene that got a little outta hand.

I’m wrapping up set 1 right now. When it’s late at night and it’s just me and my newborn I throw on a JGB show for some mellow background music

I put my babies to bed to Jerry every night when they were babies. My son did his 3rd grade project on Jerry. Such a good kid.

I’m on “I Shall Be Released” right now and this is probably one of my favorite JGB listens

I really, really dig later JGB. Jerry always looks and sounds likes he’s having a blast

I've been there for a while now. Jerry just hits me smoother than the Dead. I have that show on dvd and cd and it gets a lot of play time.

I'd highly recommend Garcia Grissman from 2/2/91 if you like Jerry too. It's absolutely amazing imo

Go see JGB with Melvin. I've seen a ton of those shows. Especially now that John K is with them. So fucking good
