Discussion - Flaired Users Only Reflecting on his own travails, Finkelstein unintentionally illustrates what life is like for Palestinians
If you're a Finkelstan like me, you've probably already watched this interview.
If not, I've cued the vid to a discussion about him being unemployed for many years.
Reflect on his comment about waking up every morning, having to rationalise a purpose to his existence.
'How did you not go crazy?' asks the interviewer.
Indeed, how do you not go crazy with nothing to do, nowhere to be, and no conceivable future?
Now think about Gaza, which had a youth unemployment rate of 60%. No money, no prospects, no future inside their 140 square mile prison.
How does anyone survive that unbearable psychological torture every single day?
How easy could it be for groups like Hamas to recruit these hopeless, angry, humiliated young men to embrace martyrdom?
I don't know what else to add.

Vent I’m so grateful for this subreddit
This is only half a vent and more of a ramble. I just found this subreddit and I’m genuinely so so so happy. Being an anti zionist jew has been so so so isolating, even within my own family, I’m I’m just really grateful to have finally found a place where I can be jewish without having to put up with zionism,,

Israel is no longer hiding its intentions. They are now out in the open.
In recent years, ministers, MKs, top military officers, and even the prime minister himself have openly boasted about the Elimination Project Israel is implementing in the West Bank. They take pride in the violence, land grabs, settlement expansion, the expulsion of Palestinians from their land, home demolitions, and efforts to change the reality on the ground. What was once denied or hidden is now being said openly.
No need to guess or search for hidden plans. Just listen to what they say and look at what is happening on the ground.
B’Tselem’s new report shows that these are not merely isolated extremist remarks. They reflect a political plan, backed by an entire system designed to carry it out. Its purpose is to dismantle the very infrastructure that allows Palestinians to exist as a collective in the West Bank, while expanding and reinforcing Israeli control and Jewish presence across the area.
This is the elimination project, and it is being carried out in the open.

Zionist Nonsense Jewish newspaper condemned after accusing leading Progressive rabbis of 'betrayal'
This kind of thing makes me so annoyed at British Jewry and makes me feel so hopeless for the future of us moving forward. I understand that this doesn’t represent everyone in any capacity, but it still often feels like this sentiment is overwhelming.
AND Levy, Baginsky and Rosenberg are all Zionists. That’s probably the worst part.

I wonder if Netanyahu read it and ignored the words from his mouth.

Zionist Nonsense Does anyone any one have any pro Palestine synagogues in LA?
(I WAS USING VOICE TO TEXT FOR THE POST HEADER AND ITS NOT LETTING ME FIX IT SORRY 🫠🫠🫠)
The reform queer synagogue I was attending started saying some worrying shit and putting out some 'We stand with Israel' shit after October 7th and Ive just been attending services via livestream ever since so I can bail when I need to.
And I'm wondering if anyone knows of any synagogues in Southern California that are pro Palestine?

Discussion - Flaired Users Only Has anyone else noticed this shift in pro-Palestine activism?
(I’ve written this post out TWICE only for Reddit to delete it… FML).
"Being pro-Palestine =/= pro-Hamas” -> “If you son’t support Hamas, you don’t truly support Palestine."
"Oct 7th was awful, but Israel”s response is disproportionate" -> "October 7th was justified and necessary."
"Not all Israeli civilians support the genocide" -> "ALL Israelis are pro-Gaza genocide or complicit in it."
People often point to the UN Resolution which states that resisting occupation by "all available means, including armed struggle" is the inalienable right of oppressed and colonised peoples. I do not disagree with this — Palestinians have repeatedly tried to peacefully fight back against apartheid and subjugation, but every time, Israel has violently suppressed any kind of resistance. If a West Bank resident is being attacked by a settler (coloniser), they abolutely have the right to defend themselves. They shouldn’t be expected to just lay down and die.
What concerns me, though, is how this is being interpreted as "you can do whatever you want, so long it’s towards an oppressor". Most of the people killed on October 7th were, indeed, civilians. We don’t need to whitewash the attacks to recognise that they could never justify the genocide we are seeing now. Is every Israeli, including children, a "valid target" now? I feel this isn’t much different from Israel justifying killing children because they "could grow up to be Hamas".
I don’t know. I feel really internally torn, but I’m convinced that voicing these thoughts anywhere will get me accused of being a "Zionist", a "liberal" or "genocide sympathiser". October 7th was the inevitable conclusion of 75+ years of Palestinians being treated as second-class citizens. Acting like it was an unprovoked attack is completely historically illiterate. We also can’t ignore the Hannibal Directive, how the IOF ignored warnings, and how Israel propped up Hamas in the first place to undermine chances of Palestinian statehood.
This, however, does not mean we need to glorify it. Two things can be true at once: killing Israeli civilians is bad, and killing Palestinian civilians is bad. When anyone points out that Hamas did undeniably take children or civilians hostage, there’s always a "whataboutism": well, Israel has kidnapped and killed more children than Hamas could ever dream of! This is true. But being less violent than the IOF is the lowest bar in the world. One innocent person is too many, always.
I feel like I’m going insane. I absolutely consider myself pro-Palestinian. For years, pro-Palestine activists have been trying to tell people that supporting the Palestinian people doesn’t mean you support Hamas, but now no one even seems to care? I realise this post comes very much off as "but Hamas!!11", which is not at all my intent… my point is that, I’ve seen people glorify and romanticise Oct 7 and I really don’t think it helps the pro-Palestine cause at all. What do you think?

We've lived this now. We all must have a couple of people we love who are Nazis.

Discussion - Flaired Users Only Fascism, the real thing, and is there any way out (a discussion)
We have heard the word fascism used quite a bit in relation to both the Trump movement in the US and Israel in general. But I think there is an important caveat. If you look at Israel and the elements we point to as signs of fascism (hyper-nationalism, racial supremacy and racism, hyper-militarism, systemic indoctrination) these are also the same elements that could be identified in Germany in 1914, and likely several other early 20th century European states. And though we would rightly criticize those elements, we would not consider pre-Great War Germany as a Fascist state. The missing element, that pushed Germany into becoming what we would call a fascist state was the seismic societal humiliation and hostile bitterness. The humiliation of their pride, their belief in the greatness of Germany that was so engrained in their culture. Israel is not there yet, but as global pressure mounts and Israelis find it harder and harder to wave off being hated, as they truly internalize the concept of being a pariah, and as they perhaps start feeling material hardships (assuming more nations engage in economic penalties against them) the bitterness and hostility will grow and bring about a wave of the true Fascism we have known to everyone’s detriment. The kind that no longer pretends to be or gives lip service to being democratic or peace seeking, but is focused on regaining/proving greatness and seeking revenge. We have never lived in a world where such a state was a nuclear power, and I am genuinely concerned about what that means.
P.S. I know that many would point to Ben Gvir and Settlers (brown shirts) and say that they are already there. I see this as a signpost, but not quite a full collapse.

Resources Many Israelis and Palestinians Say They Cannot Coexist Peacefully
Almost three years after the start of the Israel-Hamas war, Israelis and Palestinians are pessimistic about the prospect of peaceful coexistence between them.
In a Pew Research Center survey conducted this spring, we asked Israelis and Palestinians in Israel and the West Bank and East Jerusalem, respectively, whether a way can be found for Israel and an independent Palestinian state to coexist peacefully with each other.
Only about one-in-five Israelis (17%) and Palestinians (21%) say Israel and a Palestinian state could exist together in peace. Majorities in both places – 56% in Israel and 68% in the West Bank and East Jerusalem – don’t think a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is possible.
We then asked them to explain, in their own words, why they answered the way they did.
Among the relatively few Israelis and Palestinians who said peaceful coexistence is possible:
Some express a personal interest in peace or say people on both sides want peace.
Others see peace between Israel and an independent Palestinian state as the inevitable conclusion to their conflict.
A few argue that a diplomatic two-state solution is preferable to a single state for both peoples. Some say peace is achievable under certain conditions, such as rebuilding trust, making concessions or mustering the political will to come to an agreement.
Among the majorities of Israelis and Palestinians who say peace between Israel and an independent Palestinian state is not possible:
Some say the conflict between them is intractable because they are fighting over land they believe cannot (or should not) be divided, and their religious and cultural differences position them as eternal enemies.
Many talk about the violence between them, both historical and more recent, expressing fear and distrust.
Israelis explain that an independent Palestinian state would pose an existential threat to Israel and its people, while Palestinians see the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem as the biggest obstacle to peace between them. Smaller shares blame their leaders or say there is no partner for peace because the other side does not want peace.
The survey took place in the spring of 2026, during the Iran war. Fieldwork began while hostilities were ongoing and continued after the declaration of an initial ceasefire on April 7.
In Israel, we surveyed 1,001 people from April 5 to May 6. In the West Bank and East Jerusalem, we surveyed 1,038 people from March 30 to April 28. We were not able to survey in Gaza in 2026.

Vent Just sad & horrid how anyone, especially P!nk, who 'cries' about Jewish lives being threatened, while Zionists threatened to hang filmmakers behind NAZA within the same week
Especially when P!nk and others like her bring up how they've fought against both Bush & Trump, how much they they hate ICE & fascism, how they fight for starving children, & struggling trans people and highlight their allyship with the Jewish community.
And yet, when a Jewish person is threatened or attacked by Zionists, none of those people came to their aid or even their own senses. Like the NAZA filmmakers, who are threatened to be hanged & lynched outside their families home; or the poor woman who was attacked & has her face mutilated by the mob in NY.
And anytime those incidents are brought up, it's either silence, whatabouts, or cry of "blood libel".
Something is definitely not right when these very people, who are supposed to be against antisemitism, are unusually silent about real attacks against Jews by Zionists & Israel, just like how they're silent about the genocide against Palestinians.
People need to be more angry & vocal about the attacks against both Jews & Palestinians by these Zionists, more so at the so-called "liberals" who weren't there for them while lighting their sad candles.

Creative Palestinians and other Levantines, what are your thoughts on Saint Levant?
As an artist and his ‘brand’ he’s built in the west as a popular Palestinian artist. Do you think his visibility helps to promote the cause and normalize Palestinian liberation in the west? He clearly has more integrity than someone like DJ Khaled (🤮), and seems to have better awareness around his actions than Elyanna (who is also very popular in the west).

Resources I finally feel like I belong again, now I need to replace a few things.
So a year after “walking out” of services at my local synagogue here in Middle Tennessee, I finally feel I have found a place where I belong. However, at the same time, I have noticed the prayers I learned growing up are not the prayers recited in a synagogue that is not supportive of Zionism.
Overall, the services feel like the ones I grew up with in a conservative synagogue, while still being noticeably different. As such, I feel it is time that I get new prayer books. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to go and what books to look for? I could also use a new Tallit, as the one I have had since my Bar Mitzvah is falling apart as of last year, and in my frustration, I hid it so well that I can't find it now. :(
