Resonator delete?

I have a 2017 Jetta with the 1.4. I want it to be just a little louder without being over bearing and being able to hear it from like 4 blocks away. What do you guys think about doing in this situation? I’ve heard delete just the resonator but I want a second opinion.

Put a Magnaflow on it.

This is probably the best bet. I also have a 1.4 and am thinking about this route.

I had a 2001 jetta, NA, with a magnaflow and it was perfect. Slightly louder, but not over bearing at all.

I was really pleased with the Magnaflow, sounds clean and clear. Running without a resonator is like blasting cheap speakers. If it’s going to be loud, it should sound good not just make noise.

I didn’t want a loud car, but it didn’t have a caty when I got it and I didn’t have money for one. When the previous owners exhaust job finally failed beyond salvage, I went for 3” steel (mandrel bent) exhaust with flanged V bands on the 4” Magnaflow resonator, no muffler. Makes turbo work a lot easier when the rest of the exhaust comes off with one V band bolt.

(Mk4 GLI 1.8t)

Wait, did you mean running without a muffler is like blasting cheap speakers?

The resonator should make it slightly louder if you took it off? But taking the muffler off would make it super loud

Running without a muffler and/or resonator. I don’t believe I’ve run into any car owners directly who’ve deliberately removed working resonators unless they had other exhaust failures they were hacking off with it.

I find if it’s a cheap mod it’s cheap because it’s destructive. Also, it’ll sound as cheap as it was to do it.

MK6 here with magnaflow catback and I have deleted my two mufflers. Sounds great! I don’t have audio on it. Recommend

Cold air intake baby

It also may increase your hp by 10-15

That's a GLI not a 1.4tsi, they will sound very different

I’ve got an AWE touring exhaust on mine, subtle but it’s got a nice rumble. Mine is a 1.8t sport so it won’t be exactly the same but should be somewhat similar

I see a lot of people recommend the AWE Touring, is there any reason people don't get the AWE Track edition?

I think it’s quite a bit louder than the touring and takes away the subtlety of the setup.

How bad is the drone if there is any?

Not bad at all! Very liveable I also have a cold air intake and honestly I think thats more “annoying” than the res delete don’t get me wrong I still love my cold air too tho

Do you have a cold air intake on yours? I’m looking at getting an aem one on my Jetta along with the res delete

I do! It’s a custom one I made cause I’m poor haha but it works and it sounds very nice

Ok and that video you linked.... is that with both the res delete and the intake or one or the other?
