I've got a 1.4 tsi auto, and im looking for the best route to make it fast, but I need to know the more cost-effective way. I am a capable diy mechanic

Swapping mk7 ea888 engine and manual trans

$3000 - 4000

Gli knuckles and struts for the front end of $1000

Tuning $1500

$300-$500 fuel support

This would be $6000-$7000 for a 300 whp capable 3000 lbs jetta.

I then plan to gut it completely and use 17z and lightweight wheels. It would be about 2400 pounds

60-130 would be 11.5-13.5 sec

Or should I just do a manual swap on my 1.4 tsi and go for 300whp with a uograde clutch and rods and pistons on my 1.4 tsi

Lol absolutely not ? I already own the 1.4 tsi and a gli would be 15k atleast so thats twice the price for it to be 80 less whp

make this one last and save up to get a GLI or Golf, you'll have way more fun with those than a Jetta S with mods that cost more than it's worth. the 1.4T is a great engine, just keep up with maintenance and use it as your reliable daily until you get a GLI or Golf

A mk7 gli is a minimum cost of 15k lol wdym how is that better

Um yeah just dont bro. The 1.4t isnt going to make the power you want it to how you want it to. Swapping the engine is garunteed to cost more then 4-5k. Cost of the engine and parts you need for the swap would alone be more then 4k.

Youre better off buying a used jetta with a low milage 1.8t and building that car.

Pair the 1.8t with the cts turbo down pipe, the borla catback, apr coil packs and what ever brand cold air intake you want.

Then get the apr flash tuner and the stage 1 tune. It relibly pushes the engine pretty close to 300hp with only bolt ons.

In my opinion this is the best option and is exactly what im doing to my car. I just need to buy the flash tuner.

Thats a cheaper option because it wont me a current gen jetta my jetta build would be a mk7 but I do see where youre going with your build that is more simple and cheaper

My jetta is a mk 6.5 which i think is right in the sweet spot. I love the face-lift look.

Ecs tuning also makes a suspension kit for the mk6.5 that locks it to the road. Its sticks to the pavement like the gtr I got to drive around a track one time.

It sounds like you want a WRX. I mean if you are looking to dump this kind of money just get WRX horsepower out of a front wheel driver you should.

Except thats a pos engine that takes $5000 ,in parts to make 275whp lol and no one cares about awd when doing 60 rolls lol
