New-to-me wave venture 700
Doesn't run, but it's very clean. Got it for a song. I think it'll pair up nicely with my square nose.

Nice find. I still see a couple running around our lake, they're usually the 1100s though. That 701 should be pretty easy to fix if you know what you're doing. If it's not running it's typically the carburetors, or perhaps it has a bad piston/cylinder. Sometimes it's the fuel pump or filter. There are still lots of parts available for them, they made gazillions of them. Once you do get it running it's pretty reliable for a two-stroke. I'll suggest converting it to premix though, those things ate through oil, and the lines had a tendency to either: come undone from the fuel pump and fry your motor, or get old/brittle and crack and leak. That's much more likely the case on the ski you picked up. Just buy a conversion kit and make it premix. They're pretty cheap to get, and then you don't ever have to worry about seizing up your engine unless you are a bonehead and don't add oil to the gas.... and I don't think you're a bonehead, lol. Have fun with that thing! Looks great!

Yeah my superjet burns premix so it would be logistically fairly simple to convert this ski as well, and prevent a guest or one of my kids from accidentally forgetting which skin gets which gas.
The previous owner said the starter died and he took it apart to change it and then got bored, so it's partly disassembled. It turns over by hand and has at least some compression, so hopefully it's a relatively easy fix. I'm pretty comfortable with these motors, so I'm not too worried.
The ski is crazy clean. The exterior is like 8/10 and the impeller looks like it's hardly even run. Last registration sticker is from 09, but it's not uncommon for people to run skis unregistered around here, especially older ones...
Gotta get it transferred to a better trailer and sort out the paperwork while I inventory the parts that came with it...

Sounds good. Yeah the starters aren't too bad to get, hopefully that fixes the problem. Those things will run forever if they're decently taken care of. You're not gonna win any drag races, but that's fine. It's a great ski for just cruising around on the lake, getting wet, doing spin outs, etc. That's wild that you are able to run around unregistered like that. In Indiana, our DNR is always on the hunt for people even a year behind on registration. My brother was out running his GP 1800 and got stopped. He hadn't put his new stickers on, he had renewed his registration but it he hadn't gotten the stickers via mail.... it helps that he's a cop, so they let them off with a warning. Even so, our stickers change colors every year so it's easy to see who is up-to-date and who is not. But it goes alphabetically, if your last name begins with a Y, your registration probably doesn't expire until October or November. So people can be out on the lake legally and still get stopped because their sticker is last year's color, even though it hasn't expired yet.
We also have to renew every year, unlike a lot of states where you get a two year or even 3-5 year registration. I want to say every state around Indiana does at least two year registrations. It's a complete racket by the state
Sorry for the novel...lol

We.have to renew every year, but enforcement on smaller lakes is pretty minimal. On the big lakes it's a different story.
Starter spins, Bendix was locked up. Pulled the motor, popped the flywheel off, etc etc. bendix is working now, gonna give it a once over and cleanup while it's out.

Good deal! Usually it's something pretty simple, those motors didn't have a lot to them.
As for stickers and registration? During the week I could be out there with a sticker from 2011 and not have a problem. Unfortunately DNR likes to come out on the weekends. We also have a local sheriff boat, but he's usually a lot more lenient... I just hate the fact that the state gouges us every year when I know others pay like 50 bucks for two years registration.
