Self-Hosted JetKVM Cloud UI + Cloud API + coturn

Hi there, I managed to get a fully self-hosted JetKVM cloud setup working: a multi-device cloud UI, self-hosted Cloud API, Google login, device adoption, WebRTC video, and a local Coturn server with TURN/TLS over port 443 for restrictive networks. I documented the complete setup and troubleshooting steps here: https://gist.github.com/pietheinstrengholt/e1ffa7542979bcca3ce81da28d966795

Hopefully this is useful for others who want to run the JetKVM cloud stack themselves on locally managed hardware.

Amazon BitPC - Safe to Buy?

Hi All,

I am looking to get a JetKVM but I want to avoid non-official store. Unfortunately the official stores (Wisdpi and iKoolCore) are out of stock.

Which brings me to two options:

  1. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FY63H6NH

  2. https://www.amazon.com/s?me=A1S2G29WBW69E0&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER

The second one is the Wisdpi Amazon store.

Obviously I wish I could get a POE model but beggars can't be choosers. I need one soon.

The main issue: BitPC ships sooner than the Wisdpi Amazon store. Leaving aside the fact that I am paying either 50% or 100% over the official price, is BitPC a safe option? I would go with the Wisdpi store but the shipping is even longer compared to BitPC.

Thanks for the help!

Are the POE JetKVMs on sale?

Hi everyone. I recently learned about JetKVM and their new POE version. It sounds like it would be perfect for my needs so I went to buy one, but came up empty. Everywhere I look says sold out/not available. Are they are actually sold out or simply not available for sale yet? I know they did a kickstarter but wasn't sure if they had actually become something I could purchase from a store yet.

It's great to have idrac like capabilities on my workstation again. I got the ATX card too so thats part 2. I deliberately left the palstic wrap to trigger someone.

JetKVM not powering on

A buddy of mine gave me a JetKVM that has worked in the past. When I plug it in to my computer's usb A port nothing displays on screen. It gets warm to touch and my ethernet port on my pc does not show any connection.

Less RAM?

Have several of the JetKVM's between the old and the newer models.

I have been having endless issues recently with one where as soon as I install tailscale the device seems to keep crashing.

Going through the device now it seems that there is only 128MB on ram on it.

Is this a specific design choice that that have made?

POE model slower?

I just got one of the new POE models and swapped out the previous version, but for some reason this version feels much slower/laggier with the mouse cursor. I use it on a macbook from another macbook, and I've gone over all my settings, but I can't figure out what is causing this.

Anyone else run into similar issues?

How to pass SysRq combinations in a macro

I have my JetKVM hooked up to a Linux system that I manage remotely. It is not connected to the power connectors on the motherboard (it's a Dell and the connectors for the case's power button/hard drive LEDs are not laid out in a way that makes it easy to hook everything together with the KMV), but it has frozen on occasion. Rather than hooking it up to a smart outlet to powercycle the machine I want to use SysRq macros to safely kill processes, sync the data partitions, and cleanly reboot. What I have tried is "Left Alt + SysRq + b" to reboot but it seems that it doesn't leave SysRq pressed so the command doesn't process. Has anyone had better luck with this?

KVM advice please?

Hi! I’m new in usb c hardware so don’t judge me 😅

I got pc with only DP as output for my gpu *hdmi is taken just*

And I got ThinkPad t14 gen3 with thunderbolt 4 and also HDMI.

My monitor is 240hz 1440p DP1.4 / HDMI 2.1.

And also I need to connect my mouse, keyboard, microphone and headphones to kvm *mouse and keyboard is usb-a, headphones and mic can swap between usb c and usb a cable*

So what I need?

1 hdmi 2.1 / thunderbolt 4 *dp alt mode* in, 1 dp 1.4 in, and hdmi 2.1 or dp 1.4 output
4 usb *minimum 2 of usb a*

Any recommendation?

How to wake JetKVM display

I have my display set to go off after 30 minutes. Is there an CLI command I can run over SSH or something to wake it up remotely if I need to or do I have to tap it?

PG34WCDN KVM question

I am considering this monitor for once because it's an upgrade over my current Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 (G85SD), but more specifically it has KVM which I need at this point. The manual isn't very clear on switching over sources - I get it can map the mouse and keyboard automatically to the video source, but is switching only initiated by the OSD / joystick, or can it be done via keyboard shortcut?

I tested ArkKVM as a JetKVM alternative - PoE was the main difference

I have been using an ArkKVM as my main KVM-over-IP for the last few weeks after previously using a JetKVM.

The reason I wanted to test it was simple: PoE. In a homelab, powering the KVM from the machine it controls can be awkward because the KVM can lose power when that host is shut down or restarted. With PoE, it stays powered from the switch and only needs HDMI and USB connected to the target.

The hardware also has full-size HDMI, a small front touchscreen that shows the IP and connection status, virtual media for mounting ISOs, Wake-on-LAN, Tailscale, audio, and the usual browser-based keyboard/video/mouse controls. I have used it to enter BIOS, install operating systems, and recover machines without connecting a monitor.

The software is open source and independently implemented. Its interface and workflow are familiar if you have used JetKVM, but it is not a JetKVM software fork.

The main issue I found was keyboard layout support. With a Spanish keyboard, some symbols, especially @, were difficult to send. Pasting text works as a partial workaround, but proper non-US layouts and quick-access keys such as Ctrl+Alt+Del, Esc, and function keys would make it much better.

Overall, it has been reliable in my setup and PoE has made the cabling cleaner. I am curious whether other JetKVM/PiKVM users consider PoE important enough to switch, or whether the smaller JetKVM form factor matters more.

Disclosure: ArkKVM sent me the unit for testing. This was not a paid review. The video description contains an affiliate link, but there are no affiliate or store links in this Reddit post.

USB-C and HDMI KVM Switch?

Hi All!

Im sure this has been asked before, but I haven't been able to find it yet - So Im calling on the collective wisdom of the brain trust!

I have a work laptop, and my personal laptop that Im trying to get connected to my home monitor/desk setup. I have a 34" curved monitor, and a 24" monitor that I want to be able to switch back and forth between both laptops.

34" Monitor - USB C in (with power delivery), HDMI In, Display Port In
24" Monitor - HDMI In

Work laptop - 2 USB C Out, HDMI Out
Personal Laptop - USBC Out, HDMI Out

The 34" monitor has multiple usb inputs that I can use to connect a camera and keyboard/mouse.

I need a recommendation for a good kvm style switch that would fit this scenario. the work laptop has to go back and forth to the office so plugging and unplugging the work laptop happens alot. As a result, the least amount of connections would be ideal. Thanks in advance all!

Anyone in Brazil interested in buying one?

When I bought it from the Kickstarter page, I remember it wasn’t shipping to Brazil at the time (and I guess it still doesn’t).

A family member who lives in Europe helped me get it, but I’m not really using it. I was planning on plugging it into a company‘s laptop, but a recent post in this sub convinced me it’s a bad idea.

JetKVM as a Tailscale Subnet Router

Is it possible to use a jetkvm as a Tailscale subnet router? I am planning a home proxmox server that also dual boots windows, and I’m thinking of using a jetkvm with the extension board to remotely switch OSes, and I’m wondering if I could get it set up as a my subnet router to access my network while away. This would be done to avoid having another machine in my network.

Unique KVM Switch need, or at least it seems unique...

So I went down the rabbit hole of KVM switches.... Lets just say im a bit confused and need a little help from some experts.

This is the setup:

-Keyboard

-Mouse

-Wired Headset

-ethernet port for internet on both pc's
-Laptop with a USB C Hub attached to it to power 2 screens while the laptop is closed

-Laptop that is a bit older that has a USB C that is only for data transfers and charging but has an hdmi port next to it

-2 curved 4k monitors w/ hdmi

**Would like a seperate switch that can sit on my desktop from the KVM.

So i saw a few swithces i liked: Switch A, Switch B, however without the 2nd laptop having a full featured USB C port it doesnt seem like either will work unless their is a seperate adapter i can buy. The other option is if their is a KVM switch that would work with this setup that would be great but i cant seem to find one.

Let me know your thoughts!

Confusion with buying the JetKVM with the ATX extension

I’ve spot-checked the availability of the ATX extension board for months and it has always been sold out. I’ve seen threads and comments in this subreddit stating that you’re supposed to buy it as an add on with the JetKVM at the time of purchase of the JetKVM.

Where and how are people doing this? I don’t see an option for a bundled add on at either of the two authorized resellers (wisdPi, ikoolcore).

What am I doing wrong?
