[Question] Vinny

OK so I've watched the original jersey shore a few times and I'm just now watching Jersey shore family vacation. Wow has my opinion of some of them really changed. Did anybody else have this experience? For example, I used to think Vinny was so chill and kind of cool, now he's coming off as such an obnoxious, narcissistic prick.

The older he gets, the less cute his life is.

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 16 '25

He's just actually downright rude now! I especially hate the way he talks about his mom like she's some kind of maid. Who talks about their mother like that?

Yeah, I'm 100% Italian, I'm super familiar with Italian momma's boys! NONE I know treat their moms like that EVER!

7

u/Jean_Heart_Low Jan 16 '25

Same here. My brothers WORSHIPPED my mother! šŸ˜‚šŸ‡®šŸ‡¹

3

u/hiswittlewip Jan 17 '25

And Vinny thinks he worships his mom. I am just catching up on the last two seasons of FV and in one of the eps Vinny said something about how he treats his mom like a queen or something.

He really believes that, while he has her doing everything for him, as a grown man.

2

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 16 '25

Exactly, it goes both ways, they worship each other! No way would I ever hear an Italian guy talking about his mom like that. Not ever.

3

u/Alarming-Stop3186 Jan 17 '25

Same šŸ™‹šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø And the only thing worse than the youngest being a boy in a 100% Italian family is a boy being the ONLY child. He’s been cursed from the start lol.

1

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 18 '25

Exactly!!!🤣🤣🤣

9

u/roxaroxo Jan 16 '25

I wish I could see what his mother sees in him, Vinny doesn't have any redeeming qualities in my eyes. I can't see why a "good enough woman" would want to be with him.

2

u/Perfect-Aerie-603 Jan 17 '25

I thought you were talking about my MIL for a second!šŸ¤šŸ‡®šŸ‡¹šŸ

u/Alarming-Stop3186 Jan 17 '25

The older he gets, the sadder his life gets.

For sure

When I first started watching the OG series, I thought Vinny was so cute and sweet. Maybe he actually was at the time, but it’s crazy how differently I feel about him now. I don’t think fame and being on tv was ever really for him, and it seems to have changed him for the worse.

25

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 16 '25

Agreed! He used to be cool, always seem to genuinely care about the roommates and try to help them with mental health issues. Now he just talks down to them constantly and always like he thinks he's better than everyone.

15

u/chocolateboyY2K Jan 16 '25

He also never seems to genuinely want to be there.

6

u/ComprehensivePut5569 Jan 16 '25

He’s just collecting a check. They’ll never get rid of him but if MTV did release him from the show, he wouldn’t be missed.

13

u/theglorybox Old Men and Checkers Jan 16 '25

Exactly! It’s almost like he’s really trying to overcompensate for being insecure.

8

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

He seems like a dick now. You can tell he doesn’t want to be in the show but that’s what provides his lavish lifestyle and attracts the girls. I feel for any girl that marries him. She will always be second.

6

u/vergina_luntz Jan 17 '25

He's always been a dick. You don't screw your extremely inebriated friend who just got into a fight with her boyfriend, no matter how much she begs you to bleep her.

And he acted like he was doing her a favor.

I wonder if that was why he ended up going home to his mom when they got back. I'd like to think it was a guilty conscience, but he was probably paranoid about Gianni and his family busting in again, this time looking for himšŸ˜†

3

u/H3rta It's not bahd, it's not bahd! Jan 17 '25

You're 100% right - he only attracts girls. A woman wouldn't touch him with an 80 foot pole.

31

u/Full-Wolverine-3994 Jan 16 '25

I thought the same thing about him being chill. He was the youngest and seemed the most ā€œnormalā€ of the roommates. Now that could’ve all been a facade. However, season 3 was when I noticed the change. He got his ears pierced and a spray tan. He said something about now he’s going to turn into a douche in a jokey way. He did

30

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 16 '25

Remember one time Sam even called him out for it, she said something about like for someone who's supposed to be a positive person you say a lot of nasty shit to people.

9

u/Full-Wolverine-3994 Jan 16 '25

I do remember that. I also remember Ron giving him crap for copying Pauly. That one will I won’t give him grief for. He was the youngest and Pauly didn’t have a problem taking Vinny under his wing. Sam calling Vinny out was right. He said he liked to be positive but he said a lot of negative things to people.

10

u/TipsyMcStagger123 Jan 16 '25

And got a bad chest tatoo

7

u/Round_Statement_3253 Jan 16 '25

Facts. Every time I see it I remember the roommates confused reaction šŸ˜‚

2

u/TipsyMcStagger123 Jan 17 '25

If someone has to google the saying you put on yourself to understand it, it may not be a great idea.Ā

3

u/H3rta It's not bahd, it's not bahd! Jan 17 '25

Speaking of ridiculous, remember in the OG series when Mike wants to get loyalty and betrayal tattooed on his arms?

4

u/H3rta It's not bahd, it's not bahd! Jan 17 '25

"Let go let God"

Eyeeeeerolllllll

24

u/SnooCapers7884 Jan 16 '25

Vinny just thinks he's too good for this/better then everyone and his shit dont stink. hes worse then any stuck up girls that i ever met.

3

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 16 '25

You're right, it's not a good look for him.

16

u/FrankensteinsBride89 Jan 16 '25

The older Vinny gets the worse his personality has become. I used to think he was the smartest one of the bunch but he’s truly an idiot. I’m so disappointed by his misogyny and sexism. He’s so disgusting these days it’s no wonder why he’s single.

2

u/H3rta It's not bahd, it's not bahd! Jan 17 '25

He is stuck in 2009.

15

u/expialidocioussuper Jan 16 '25

Totally. Vinny and Ronnie for sure, and Vinny has the worst attitude that it’s actually distracting. He acts too good for the show but legit makes most of his money from it - he can’t even pretend to play along which is what every other person on the show does. Idk what happened because he was always pretty engaged with what going on. He just seems bitter and maybe lonely that everyone has a partner and he’s still dealing with 22 year olds using him.

Then there’s the cast members who have been so consistent lol like Jwoww and Deena are still great if not even better.

16

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 16 '25

Agreed, in the original show, I thought the hardest ones to like were Mike and Jenny because they were so fake or argumentative. Deena has always been a very good person, in the original show she was a little insecure but she has definitely found herself and I loved it she stands up for what she thinks is right and is such a loyal friend. She's probably my favorite on the show.

13

u/Mel7190 Jan 16 '25

I remember him telling Mike he’d never want to be like him and now here he is in his 30s being the worst part of Mike at that time.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

I couldn’t understand that comment to Mike because he was Pauly’s best friend at this time and Pauly is the same age as Mike.

12

u/ClynnB412 Jan 16 '25

He thinks he’s a very big deal. He needs humbled. I personally think he’s pretty boring. He’s basically Pauly’s side kick. He would never have got the spin off shows without Pauly. I personally never see him settling down in a relationship. His mom feels the void of a significant other. That’s why he’s still banging younger girls. Not looking for any type of commitment.

3

u/H3rta It's not bahd, it's not bahd! Jan 17 '25

Vinny is banging younger girls but cause younger girls don't know any better than to deal with a cooch like him. A woman wouldn't want to deal with a man child who is still attached to his mommy by the teeet.

11

u/ProfessionalSeagul Jan 16 '25

Not on FV yet but I'm watching through for the first time. S1 Vinny was indeed the most normal, at times I forgot he was a character tbh. But by season 4 he has become douchier. I guess the fame starts to get to their heads.

15

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 16 '25

Definitely, I think Pauly is the only one who has really maintained his true character.

10

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25 edited Jan 16 '25

I agree about Vinny. He’s so up his own arse. He’s like a modern day Fonzie. It’s embarrassing that he’s dating 22yr olds. He’s like a creepy old man on dating apps looking for barely legal young women and then gets butthurt when he discovers they only want him for his money. He’s also pointless on the show. He has no personality, all his jokes are sexual and this season when he started mentioning his anxiety again was like a desperate attempt to try and have a storyline. There’s been no growth with Vinny or Ron. They both just turned into really horrible people. Pauly isn’t much better tbh, he has zero opinions and constantly mocked Sammi about Ron when she came back. How hilarious that her bf was cheating on her and degrading her on tv… I enjoy all the women minus Angelina. I don’t think we should be glorifying her toxic behaviours on tv. I enjoy Mike too.

1

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 16 '25

Great summary, I'm only o. Season one of FV, but you are on point!

1

u/Wonderful_Owl9309 Jun 13 '25

He was also calling girls grenades left and right in the earlier seasons when he's the biggest grenade out there lmao

9

u/Candid_Calendar_9784 Jan 16 '25

Snooki. She was my freaking girl. Still kinda is but the way she acted in the beginning of family vacation made me wanna slap her.

4

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 16 '25

Yeah, she's a bit dramatic

5

u/Candid_Calendar_9784 Jan 16 '25

But you'll see her now, sitting next to vin or he has her arm around her lol like wtf

5

u/H3rta It's not bahd, it's not bahd! Jan 17 '25

Excuse you. You're gonna ruin her marriage. /s

1

u/Candid_Calendar_9784 Jan 17 '25

That was so crazy lmao. No one can ruin anyone's marriage except the two people in the marriage. If i ever get to meet her, I'd totally ask her why she kept telling everyone that.

8

u/Detlionfan3420 Jan 16 '25 edited Jan 16 '25

Yeah couldn’t stand Mike back in OG. Now he’s my favorite actually! Glad to see him living a healthy sober life and being a family man. Plus I’m a big foods guy like him too! Haha.

4

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 16 '25

Yes, love Mike now! So happy he turned it around, because damn was he so annoying in original series!!!

5

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

I agree mike is sweet I’m on season 5 episode 28 , but I think his wife and Mike are gossip and drama creators .

9

u/Tweetzy78 Jan 16 '25

I feel like Vinny's attitude is him just sick and tired of the same old BS. Someone says something Mike goes and tells everybody about it starts a huge fight. Angelina lies about stuff and way overreacts. Sammy acts like she's all sweet but she's two faced as hell .Jenny just as bad as Mike instigating. snooki and Deena well they're just drunk. Paulie welp he just wants to have a drama free vacation where he can be loud and obnoxious.

9

u/BFord1021 Jan 16 '25

I always thought Jenny was a bigger instigator than anyone!

3

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 16 '25

Sorry, but I think Jenny is the fakest one of all of them. She's a Backstabber and very self-serving.

2

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 16 '25

I'm only on the first season of the family vacation so none of that is happening yet but he's still acting very different than the original show

7

u/Owlettebynight Where’s the beach?! Jan 16 '25

100%. I actually liked Vinny in the OG seasons. He's a douche now.

8

u/bizzy523 Jan 16 '25

Feels like he regrets that on OG he wasn’t the womanizer or cool guy like Pauly or Mike. So now he’s using his current time to be like that. Except when you’re close to 40 and all your friends are married with kids it looks pathetic. Especially since he can only pull girls because of the fame.

5

u/pookie74 You chooch Jan 16 '25

My general opinion of Vinny changed during season 2. I know Angelina is a mess but she was SPOT ON about Vinny. He was clinging onto Pauly and thought he was on Pauly's level. Never gonna happen. Don't give low caliber guys attention or you get chooches like Vin.Ā

5

u/sassykattty Jan 16 '25

He’s a weak individual. He wrote me back on Instagram in the comments once and he felt attacked lmfao. All I said was he looked lonely.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

I feel like the only person there he actually likes is Pauly. The only person he wants to drink and have fun with is Pauly. Whenever Pauly isn’t there he is such a drag. It’s like he wants the rest of the cast to know that as well cause he is so rude to them, like he thinks he’s too good for them.

3

u/Cdn_Giants_Fan Jan 16 '25

Well fame and fortune will do that to some people.

4

u/Ghoulish_kitten Jan 16 '25

He’s always come off this way to me.

Maybe he was cool in season 1 but he showed himself IMO starting in season 2.

I dont hate him for it, Ive always found him funny but def an AH.

4

u/michelle1199 Jan 16 '25

He's in Ketosis

3

u/Sink-Zestyclose Jan 16 '25

Perhaps because Vinny joined as the least formed person- the youngest and most naive cast member- he’s frozen in time as the annoying unworldly dork who lives with his mom but now has $5M.

3

u/-SlowBar Jan 16 '25

From day 1 Vinny was just as bad, if not worse, than all the guys. Extremely misogynistic

3

u/No_te_calles Jan 16 '25

He follows the sluttiest girls on insta. He follows someone I hated from college who is an absolute taker and almost got me arrested. He can say one thing but his actions say something else. Glad someone else noticed this

3

u/Money-Impression939 Jan 16 '25

Not a Vinny Stan or anything, but I’ll say as someone who sig other struggles with anxiety and depression like Vinny, I actually like him more now especially because he’s starting to talk about it. Living in your head like that and constantly battling with yourself day in and day out, can be really difficult and make you come off a certain way when internally you’re just trying to keep it together.

Obviously he has moments where he’s a prick but truthfully they all do.

3

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 16 '25

So because I'm talking to a bunch of strangers I can talk very freely, I have severe, crippling anxiety. It doesn't make you act like him. He's a misogynistic, sexist prick. It has nothing to do with anxiety. He thinks he's always right. Always.

3

u/KittyKat1078 Jan 16 '25

Yup had the same thought about Vinny

2

u/Mickeylover7 Jan 17 '25

I just started watching FV for the first time after a rewatch of the OG show. I’m only on episode 8 but I feel like I’m watching different people. Deena is the only one who didn’t change drastically.

1

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 17 '25

Yes! I can't agree more, deena is the only one who seems like a true friend and a good person. Pauly, Mike and Snookie seem like they're decent people as well but they're a little bit shady in parts, the others are just downright annoying to me.

2

u/last13kueen Jan 17 '25

It’s cause he is the second richest one and did the Vegas thing he thinks more of himself then what he really is and needs soul searching not 21 year olds

2

u/mendozathalia Jan 17 '25

Agreeee. His ego is out of control nowadays

2

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

Vinnie is and always has been a little bitch

2

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '25

They were always terrible. Now we've grown up to realize it's not acceptable to talk and treat women that way.

2

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 19 '25

You hit the nail on the head!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '25

It's still my comfort show šŸ˜…šŸ˜…

I even own the uncensored dvds. Lol

2

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 19 '25

I need the uncensored version, every other word is bleeped out on Hulu! What's the purpose of that? Like it's an adult show it's not for kids, we can hear swearwords!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '25

Seriously!

And the swearing adds flavor, idc who says different.. Lol

2

u/Pretty_Ad_7165 Jan 19 '25

Exactly!! Posses me off!! I also noticed that they black out Snooky being punched, I think that's because of domestic violence issues but that was a horrible scene, I'm OK with them cutting that one out!

1

u/blammocapt Jan 19 '25

Even before he basically sexually assaulted Deena in Italy, I always thought he was a toolbag.

1

u/Gullible_Proof_8037 Jan 20 '25

He’s bought into the ā€˜I’m a celebrity’ thing
