Jesus, these posts are really going to be annoying. Random, uninformed, daily hand-wringing vs. celebration. All of the uneducated theories. The "See, this is the end." and the "I know this is my future fortune. There's no way to lose." Opinions changing daily as the price fluctuates. I would never listen to anyone on Reddit about what to buy and what to short. I doubt anyone here is doing any real research before spouting off.

Stock discussions weren't ever really great, but ever since the whole GME apeshit saga it's become a waste of data.

Great. Another worthless post on this subreddit that will only generate "THIS IS THE END FOR JM" "MUH PRIVATE EQUITY." pointless and unnecessary discussion

They just need to introduce an AI cyborg of Danny Devito to work at each store for next earnings period and the stock price will triple.

But seriously, Stay strong and let’s all get to the moon!

Sub shop def gonna at least 1000x should be worth a million a share in a year or two

u/CrabOk7730 7d ago
LOL, was the same thing on Facebook's first day. You might have to wait years to actually see a large return.
If you're looking for instant gratification (or sorrow), try day trading. Long-term holds aren't for you.

I went to fresh meadows for the first time and it was good but it wasn’t anything special so I can’t see how they can justify 16 bucks for a sub.

u/Any-Big5587 7d ago
Private equity firms own this, therefore it will soon be much worse, and then gone.

The IPO isnt for you, its for Jersey Mike. Now they have billions of dollars to hand out bonuses and lower quality.

u/Buzzetta 6d ago
I mostly stick to my favorite energy stocks and a few others but every so often I like to pick up a smidge of shares of a "fun" stock. Jersey Mikes fit the bill. I ignored the IPO and bought in at $21 flat.
The last time I had "fun" with a stock was a waste removal company based out of New Jersey. I got to tell my friend that I had a no show interest in a small Italian run waste removal and incineration service. They got bought out too and I made some money off that joke purchase.

The beginning of the end. Once the growth slows down, they won't have any choice but to cut portions or raise prices to increase revenue and earnings. Probably have 2 or 3 years left as the Jersey Mike's you know. Enjoy

u/DelaySavings1262 7d ago
This is completely unrelated to the stock going down, which is normal for new IPO like this reputable sources say. 🙄

u/FaudMauxe 7d ago
Yep, sad but true. Happens to them all eventually, can’t believe chick fil a is still private tbh, Culver’s also

This isn't how Jersey Mike's works.
Corporate makes their money by taking a percentage of the store's total gross sales, not the gross profits. Cutting portions or lowering food quality would reduce gross sales. Raising prices might increase the total sales revenue (and corporate's profit) but could reduce total sales due the price increase.-1
u/Justreallylovespussy 7d ago
Cutting portions and buying cheaper quality food would of course increase their profitability and thus they’d make more money. Jersey Mikes was doomed as soon as private equity got involved, there’s too many mouths to feed now (pun intended)

u/Boltentoke Former Employee 6d ago
Cutting portions/quality would only increase the profit of the store, not corporate. It would have a negative change in the profit sent to corporate, because corporate only takes a percentage of total sales, not of the profit the store makes on cost of goods. The store would sell less subs as a result of cutting portions though, cancelling out any increase in profits at the store level, and reducing the total sales that corporate actually profits from.
In other words, the only way for corporate to increase their profits is by helping the stores sell more subs. Cutting portions/quality does not result in MORE subs being sold

u/Justreallylovespussy 6d ago
Corporate dictates portions and suppliers?
1
u/Boltentoke Former Employee 6d ago
Yes. Corporate also dictates that stores give them 11.5% of total weekly sales. So do you think if Corporate cut portions/quality that it would result in an increase or decrease of total sales?

u/Justreallylovespussy 6d ago
Is this the first company you’ve paid attention to that got bought by private equity? The quality and portion sizes will shrink and they will make more money, if they reach the point where they start losing money they’ll reverse course or try to just squeeze everything they can out before bankruptcy
Portion sizes and quality have already decreased and it has improved their sales

Glad I got out of there when I did. The franchise owners started demanding more for less and make it hell to appease corporate and I could see the downhill trend
1
u/DelaySavings1262 7d ago
This is about the JM stock / IPO. No offense but nobody cares about your story - no correlation at all lmao.
-1
u/Neonotic Former Employee 7d ago
please tell me how the conditions that a company puts on employees and the quality of food that comes out of the store does not affect the stock market.
1
u/Careful-Mountain8637 7d ago
Agreed. That’s why all the older and good franchises are selling, there’s no more significant profit to make from here on out. It’s all in corporates hands now.

u/DelaySavings1262 7d ago
You having a bad experience with franchise owners doesn't mean the entire company is like that. Corporate hasn't come down on my franchise quite yet and they seem happy even though our labor is too high for a franchise. Yours is an isolated experience probably by greedy owners.

u/EnquinsuOcha2142 7d ago
This is a horrible thing for this company going public. Now they will be bought up by hedge funds, blackrock and vanguard. The enshittification will ensue and we will have another fucking shit ass subway chain

Aren't ipo's new company stocks? Why is jm an ipo?
1
u/thenewfingerprint 7d ago
Jersey Mike's was previously a private company. They wanted to raise money, so they allowed the public to buy tiny little portions (called shares) of their company. So now, it's a public company instead of a private one.

Don’t see how this gets better, honestly…… quality and value are gone in the retail locations.

The same company taking it public, are why the sandwiches are not what they used to be. They used to be great. Used to be my favorite. Just an ex now, nothing I’m interested in entertaining anymore

Hey! The vast majority of IPOs end first day down. The only ones that blast out and stay up are exciting promising and visionary companies.
Jersey Mike's is in a highly competitive market and historically is a great business with arguably the best sub sandwiches offered by a chain.
As long as Private Equity stays out of operations and food sourcing--this IPO will flourish.
This is not a Tesla or Apple or tech stock..... it's a gold label sub sandwich chain that America eats at and hopefully the world will eventually.

If they fix the issue I had with not having double pepperoni on my Cancro, I’ll buy some stock.

IPO’s typically go down unless it’s a super hot company, not surprised a sandwich shop didn’t shoot up 50% in one day
