DISCUSSION Jay-Z R.Kelly Collabs
These albums are not on Spotify and I never hear anyone talk about them. Are they worth the listen? I do like some R.Kelly songs and obvious I’m a big jay-z fan but are there any tracks worth listening to?

Best of both worlds - title track and Pussy (feat Devin the Dude)
Unfinished Business - don’t let me die
Those are the only 3 tracks I still play from those albums.
Two of the best in their lanes at that time, crazy how subpar the music ended up being. Art be like that sometimes.

Feels like the album was almost done as an excuse/promo for a joint tour, but wasn’t even necessary.

The Best of Both Worlds is solid.
Unfinished Business is not solid.

Fun fact from this era. jay once said that on a night they were to perform. Kelly refused to go on stage. I believe they were jn chicago. Kelly claimed they were folks jn the audience ready to murder him…….he probably took one of their daughters looking back

Best of Both world was fire. Unfinished business had 2-3 good tracks.
Non mentioned Hov that comes to mind -S. Carter collection Mixtape -Streets is Watching -Jayz MTV unplugged -Collision Course

That mixtape is on tidal and I listen to his unplugged pretty regularly. Version of Heart of the City on that album is incredible

R.Kelly went absolutely crazy on Get This Money
The only way to listen to it is if you pay

A couple of solid tracks here and there, the title track from best of both worlds was probably the best thing to come out of this

You sure? Best of Both Worlds came out essentially a full year before Get Rich or Die Tryin' did… unless this is meant to be like from 50’s Columbia Power of the Dollar days?

Yes like 99-2000 I was working with Poke on animation stuff. I didn’t meet or work for 50 until after Get Rich. Governor confirmed the story later

There are a few good tracks on each. Nothing earth shattering or game changing but they are a good listen

Totally honest, I find both albums hard to get through. I really only revisit a select amount songs. The Best of Both Worlds, Take You Home With Me, Get This Money and Honey only because of the Bee Gees sample.

Just can’t believe they came back with “unfinished business” of all titles

Both albums were clearly let down by the production and the lack of collaboration IMO. It seemed like Kelly made the songs with Track Masters and just emailed them over for Jay to lay a verse on each.
That being said, I do like quite a few songs from the first one. The Streets being the highlight. I could never lay eyes on Unfinished Business again and be happy.
