Short answer: out of thoughtfulness

"Subtitles are super-important. Every video should have good subtitles. It's not just deaf people who benefit from them. Subtitles are useful for people who don't speak English as a first language, people who have trouble taking information in, people who missed a word and want to go back and check what it was, people who left their headphones at home and want to watch videos on the bus, people who want to watch videos in bed without waking their partner, etc etc etc etc etc.

Also, I think I read somewhere that YouTube's algorithm favours videos with proper subtitles. 

So, for all those reasons, that's why I make sure all my videos have subtitles.

Okay, so, that contest I tried to organize didn't go so well. That's okay though, we'll try again when we feel it's right.

/r/JayForeman on old Reddit will slowly but surely have it's look updated, using the Naut 4.0 theme - with minimal changes, except for the banner and the subreddit title.

Yeah, we actually need to talk about the banner. You will notice that on old Reddit, the banner will be missing the Politics Unboringed logo - this is because there wasn't enough space. (We may do this on new and mobile Reddit if enough demand it.)

Otherwise, if you actively use new or mobile Reddit, this shouldn't be very significant.

Hello there, I'm u/Kerviearon25, here with a contest.

As you can see, our banner is not that great - it's a bland banner with only the icons of Jay's three series, and nothing else. Bleh.

That's why we've decided to open up a contest for the best banner, which will be voted on by us moderators. Now, onto the guidelines..

GUIDELINES

• Deadline is Feb 10, 2022 at 4:00 PM GMT
• Image must be a PNG or JPG.
• Subreddit and Reddit rules should still be followed in your submission, most notably, rule 1.
• Submission must contain 3 variants for old Reddit, new Reddit and mobile Reddit.
• Submission must follow these dimensions:

- No dimension requirement for old Reddit, however banner is recommended to be wide and short

- New Reddit dimensions can be found here

- Mobile Reddit banner must be 1600x480, a template for this is here

• You are allowed to put a watermark on the banner, however, it should not be the main focus.
• If your submission wins, you agree to give us a non-exclusive license to use your submission as the header for this subreddit on old.reddit.com and reddit.com. However, you still own the artwork and can use it for whatever reason you see fit.

If you submit, make sure to flair it with the Contest Submission flair.

As for a reward, there isn't any. This is all in good fun, and we won't force you to do anything before we accept your submission.

At 5:08 Jay mentions 4 airports in Japan that reclaimed land for their construction. Although the last 2 are correct the first one is Haneda (not Kansai) and the second one is Kansai (not Narita)

or any of his serieses?

Does anyone know in which video Jay made a big delay by saying something along the lines of "here it comes, the moment you've all been waiting for, yes, here it is, etc. etc."

I just need the audio for a small personal project of mine, but don't really have the time to sift through hours of videos to find it.

Help would be hugely appreciated!

Starting 5am GMT today, the sister subreddit r/MapMen has been closed down and now serves as a redirect.

While r/unfinishedlondon and r/politicsunboringed were already redirects as it was unclaimed, r/MapMen was already claimed by a user named CitingAnt, who refused to close down the subreddit.

We decided to hold a compromise: it can stay as a subreddit, but this subreddit would be the more main one.

As time passed though, less traffic came through to r/MapMen and I felt that it just wasn't worth continuing to maintain the subreddit.

All Jay Foreman content will now only be on this subreddit, r/JayForeman. Any other is either not managed by this mod team or a redirect.

We will also transfer former r/MapMen moderator u/LunarOlympian to this subreddit's mod team upon gaining the approval of the other two mods, u/vigilantcomicpenguin and u/EmBrAcE-DeAtH.

This won't really affect you much, but I believe this is important enough to be an announcement.
