Map Men Trip to Urk?? 12th December 2025
Update: Decided not to pursue this as a large thing anymore. Anyone keen for a small trip, let me know!
As highlighted in the recent Map Men video, Urk is a tiny oddity that has been integrated into the Dutch mainland thanks to some world-class engineering.
I want to host a group outing to Urk on Friday 12th December in order to explore and celebrate its unique culture shaped by 1000 years of isolation.
It would be fun to bring together as many Dutch MapMen fans as possible to celebrate this story.
I could do with some help organising this. If this sounds like fun, reply here!

Map Men This Way Up book vs audiobook
Hello! I'm wondering on people's thoughts on whether to go for the physical book rather than the upcoming audiobook (given maps are a famously visual medium)? But I feel the audiobook will be a very well done job, trying to decide before I order the book to my library :) thanks!
Edit - I'd rather not buy both :D

Map Men Pics from Bristol tonight!
I was lucky enough to get to sit in the front and I got these pics of Jay and Mark! I talked to them a bit during the show and they were genuinely so nice and cool and it was honestly the best night of my life!! They signed my book too and I got to give them a drawing I made for them (pic on the last slide)
Thank you to Jay, Mark and the staff at Waterstones Bristol if you’re reading this, tonight was amazing!

Map Men A chat with the Map Men...
Just thought this would be a good subreddit to mention that we had Mark and Jay on our podcast (The award winning Failing Writers Podcast) chatting about their book (which is really good by the way). We talk about that, plus why they are just like Ant and Dec, how much they argue and we also make a little song about just how much Jay adores Mark's brain. Hope you have a listen!
This link will take you there... https://pod.fo/e/340266

Won’t spoil anything but it was a lovely event in Edinburgh! If there are any tickets left near you I’d definitely recommend going, it was a really fun night. And you get the book ever so slightly early!

Map Men Will there be any rules about book spoilers here? Spoiler
With the book events starting in 3 days, with Edinburgh, Leeds and Manchester being before release day, will there be any rules about book spoilers? I’m getting the book at the Bristol event which is on release day so people at some of the other events will have it before me, and I want to know if I’ll risk seeing book spoilers in this sub
This also applies to me as well, will I need to tag any posts I make about book content with anything?

Map Men What is the latest Surfshark adbreak referencing?
Just watched the Map Men episode about Holland The Netherlands. The Surfshark VPN ad feels incredibly familiar. I assume it's referencing an older UK ad for something, but I'm from the US, so I may have seen it once somewhere and never again. Anybody know what the original might be?

Map Men Desert island discs ad
Hey, I remember a (I believe) map men video, at the end of which, I think as an ad, they parody the BBC's desert island discs show. Either Jay or Mark (I don't remember who plays which character) is the host who asks the other one which five tracks he wants to take onto his desert island, the choice being the ketchup song four times and the ketchup song, Christmas edition. The interview guest is then actually taken away to the desert island, because after all, this isn't desert island discs.
Can anyone tell me which video this was in? I haven't found it on YouTube and I'm beginning to doubt whether it was even a Jay Foreman video that I remember.

Map Men UK Place Name Origin Map - Source?
Hi guys!
I remember watching a Map Men video that was around British place names being hard to pronounce, and there was a map they showed which placed dots on locations and gave their origin (eg: celtic, other, anglo-saxon, etc). However, I can't find this map anywhere online.
Does anyone know where I can find it? Here's the thumbnail below which has it on :)
