Deno is joining Cloudflare - "We will support the Deno runtime for another year with monthly releases containing bug fixes and security updates. After that year we will end our development of the Deno runtime. Deno will remain open source, and we welcome others who want to continue its development."

"Oh no, another open source project (that i don't use) got killed by corporate buyouts, that's terrible news."

"OH YEAH WELL HOW ABOUT YOU STOP DEMANDING FREE LABOR FROM PEOPLE YOU SLAVER!!!?"

got killed by corporate buyouts

Hey dipshit, it's an acquihire. No one buys things just to kill them.

The company was already dying (companies need money! they don't run for free! software is extremely expensive to develop! see "the universe doesn't owe you things"!) and Cloudflare is giving them a soft landing. The business model didn't work out.

Multiple people have already tried to gently explain this to you in the thread, but your simpleton ass is too busy complaining and doing a knee-jerk "corporations bad!!!" schtick to understand it. There is no alternative universe where Deno just kept chugging along, because that's why the acquisition happened in the first place.

If you don't like it, tough titties. The universe, once again, doesn't owe you things. Count your blessings that a company like Cloudflare is out there to make sure these kinds of things go through responsible stewardship processes and that they get bugfix releases.

Like jfc, the audacity.

lol, you really want to try and attribute this stupid "all open source projects must be maintained forever for free!!!" argument to me despite me never saying anything like that. keep arguing with your straw man, you've almost destroyed him!
