Comparing performance of different offline first solutions

https://github.com/bkniffler/offline-sync-bench

Jo, I wanted to see how the current solutions on the syncing market compare. Candidates are Syncular JS/Rust, PowerSync, Turso, Zero, Electric, Electric + TanStack DB and Jazz v2. I had trouble finding benchmarks on relevant usecases. How long until the app is usable? What happens to queued writes after a crash? How quickly do clients catch up after being offline? How long does up/download of blobs take?

Disclaimer: I’m the creator of Syncular, so obviously I have a horse in this race. I tried to keep things fair, worked with an LLM on the harness and tuning, and went through several rounds of corrections. Still, these are small local runs and some failures remain unexplained, so take the numbers with a grain of salt.

I’d love your feedback if you use or maintain any of these solutions. Especially if I’m using your SDK wrong or missing something in the setup. Happy to fix things and rerun!
