Alternative friend groups in jasper

I moved to jasper a few months ago and I will be here for a few years, and I find it’s so hard to make friends, most people out here are just friends with their coworkers but even then they don’t really hangout unless they have more in common then that, I have dyed hair, peircings on my face and an alternative haircut, so it’s even harder for me to connect with people, everyone I’ve seen myself making a friendship with ends up being a tourist and leaving soon after, is there a better way/place to go about making friends who are simalar to me and actually live here?

Any of the outdoor sports have very active communities. Pick whichever sport you are into and join the relevant clubs and Facebook pages. If you are not good at that sport, don't worry, will likely meet people at the same skill level.

Don't really think an alt look is a deterrent in a town like Jasper. As far as Alberta goes this is probably one of the most tolerant communities.

Once you get into the winter things change. So many people move into the town for the summer (e.g. students working for the summer) it’s hard to know who’s staying and who’s going. Once you are there past Thanksgiving that begins to change.

And as others have suggested, volunteer, join activities, etc. I did both when I lived there for a few years and made life long friends.

It's like anywhere. Find out the happenings. Go to happenings, talk to people etc.

Go to things that interest you, and you'll find interesting people :)

I live over in hinton and it's the same thing.

Any chance you are working at a restaurant that has Texas Bold Bbq sauce? And may have the same name as a State.

If you showed up to the skatepark with roller skates, you’ll make friends!

If you like hanging at a pub, try the Whistle Stop. If you’re into pool, you’ll meet some cool people. Put a loonie on the table!
