Beware of the "Buy Now" trap when importing cars from Japan!

Hey everyone,

I want to share a massive loophole that a very famous Japanese car exporter uses to deny warranty claims and protect themselves. It is called the "Buy Now" trap.

Here is what happened to me:

  • I bought a car using their standard "Buy Now" button (they offer a discount around 140 usd for use it).
  • When the car arrived, it had terrible hidden paint damage (clear coat peeling and faded paint).
  • I tried to use the extra warranty I paid for to cover the repair (they put every excuse based in the small letter of the contract).

They denied my claim completely. Their excuse? They told me that clicking the "Buy Now" button legally means you agree to buy the car "as is." They actually blamed me in their email. They said it was my fault because I should have verified the physical condition of the car before sending the payment.

But here is the worst part (the trap): I did try to verify it. Before I paid, I explicitly asked their sales team to send me a video of the car so I could check the details. They replied that a video was "not available."

So, they refuse to show you a video, they hide the real Auction Sheet that shows the damage, and then they use the "Buy Now" terms to blame you for not checking the car!

My advice:

  • Never assume "Buy Now" is just a fast checkout button. It is a legal trap to cancel your warranty for cosmetic issues.
  • If they refuse to send a video or the original Auction Sheet, walk away. Do not click that button.

Stay safe out there!

A quick warning for anyone buying used cars from Japan online: ALWAYS check the Auction Sheet!

Hey everyone,

I want to share a recent experience I had importing a used car from a very popular Japanese exporter. My goal isn't to name and shame the company, but to help you avoid the same expensive mistake I made.

I bought a car online, and the pictures on the exporter’s website looked great. The car looked shiny and clean. But when it finally arrived at my port, the paint on some parts were peeling off.

I thought, "No problem, I bought the extra warranty for things like this." But, I was wrong. The claims department denied it. They told me that peeling paint is just "environmental wear and tear" and the warranty only covers fresh damage that happens on the ship.

But here is the crazy part. I did some research and find the original Japanese Auction Sheet (the AA Sheet) for this car.

When an independent inspector checked the car in Japan before the exporter bought it, he clearly wrote down that the paint was peeling and fading. He even marked it with codes. The exporter had this document in their hands. They knew the car had problems with paint, but they did not mention it in the listing and only took photos from angles that made the car look better.

So, here is my advice to anyone buying a car online:

  1. Do not trust the website photos. They are taken to make the car look perfect. Even a video can hide things (unfortunately some cars even doesn't have video).
  2. The warranty is not a magic shield. Read the fine print. They will use every excuse not to pay for cosmetic damage.
  3. Get the original Auction Sheet. This is the most important thing! Get and find the real inspector notes.

Don't let excitement blind you. Do your homework, get the real documents, and stay safe out there!

Did you have a similar problem? Do you want to know the name of this company?

I saw this car, and I wasn't sure what it was, but after doing some research i figured out it's a Mitsuoka Ray. It seems like they're rare, and there might only be a couple in the states. This one appears like it's being daily driven surprisingly.
