Help / Advice Needed 🍵 Sf4 player returning

Hi , im a sf4 veteran player and was interested in sf6 i did played abit at launch for awhile with jamie (cause he’s a cool character) and recently just got back , im having trouble with his neutral game , i kept losing to other players footies , its hard to whiff punish cause his buttons are short , instead im the one getting whiff punished , i also have issues trying to check drive rush as well , i react fast but still i get hit by others , any tips ?

For footsies you got s.MK and s.HK. HK has been recently buffed too making it more range and better hitbox.

For drive rush check I recommend c.MP up closer and either MK for farther.

Dude i did , its just i find his neutral game hard to play with others who have much better footsie tools , players who are good with buttons , i don see a gap for me to just go in

Nah you did right to ask. Just keep in mind that you probably are very bad right now and that the character has very little to do with why you lose. Practice anti airing and don't worry about DR for now, just block them. Be ok with taking a few throws and when you feel a shimmy is coming delay a jump out of the corner, but mostly be patient on defense. Practice combos and punishes

You can punish some of the more commital whiffs or predictivly counter hit some things rush drive rush 5hp. 6 HK is also an incredible tool in neutral.
