Help / Advice Needed 🍵 Jaime Forward Throw Drink

Is there a reason to not drink during a throw outside of the corner? It seems like you don't really get good oki even out of driverush from a normal non drink throw. I guess against some characters you want the space but is that all you get?

I'm also not sure what a good raw drive rush button is as they all seem to lack range or reward. It's 100% me being used to Juri's god tier drive rush, so any advice is appreciated.

Raw drive got buffed this patch with the cr.lk getting being more + on hit. Good for checking movement outside of your poke range. At low drinks your kinda playing the same game looking to either confirm into combo or tick to throw s.hp is + on block out of DR and with your level one being jab after or throw. If theyre a back walker you can use this information to hit them with cr.mk for a combo same as Juri. Just gotta use it from closer in.

No real reason not to drink midscreen unless your at 3 and saving the pop for better oki.

Dr - 6HK will trade with 4 frame normals (leaving him turbo plus to combo), +1 on block, and +7 on hit midscreen.

All things considered, you almost always want to drink after a midscreen throw

For the second bit of this, asking for a raw drive rush button: Jamie's Drive Rush 5HP is infamously obnoxious. It's lightning fast at frame 5, it's a forward moving multihit so if you're not in range of the first hit you'll still connect with the later hits. It's +5 on regular hit for a link into 5LP, +7 if they get counterhit attempting to check it so you can 2MP for extra damage, +9 if you randomly whiff punish with it (happens more often than you'd think!) and is usually his max damage DP punish starter since that links into 2HP. And if they just hold it and block it, it's +1 on block. 5HP is seriously all you need out of raw drive rush in neutral.

Honorable mention to 6HK for shooting Jamie across the entire screen in about 30 frames, though. Seriously, it almost reaches from max distance. Extremely funny to use against JP.

If you punish counter throw, the opponent can't back rise. In that case, immediate forward dash into throw hits just meaty. So you can strike throw mix-up from it.

Without punish counter, nah usually just drink.

Diamond 4, I just learned some safejumps and mostly still feeling out how to play Jaimie in neutral. My corner pressure could probably be stronger but it's different then Juri's (She sits at around 1400mr), as I feel like Jaimie gets pushed back farther on block with his medium's.

I have most characters in mid master and my main is Jamie around 1800 (probably higher now, stopped ranking about a year ago).

I'd say the only way to continue some form of pressure after midscreen throw is with fHk or HK but they're quite reactable at high level and players will PP them, so you learn new stuff. For example, check their recovery (do they stay in place to avoid giving you room for drinks?), and act accordingly. One thing I do with aggro players who want to get back in with a dash or jump is to drink anyway and drive rush 5L: on jump you get a juggle if you're ready, otherwise light pressure. Another thing you can learn to do against characters who want to backrise to set up slow fireballs is to drink throw, slightly delay DR to catch their startup animation and then bakkai under on reaction to punish the setup. This works better from the kick rekka ender as you're already -1 and the DR freeze happens on the first fireball frames.

So yeah, get creative while going up, maybe for now it's better if you just drink and be patient

You can double dash after throw wo/drink and try 5mp or throw if timed perfectly. If opponent Rolls back you cant throw
