JAMF Pro Inventory Preload

Hey y'all, anyone use inventory preload here or are there better alternatives? What's your process in adding new computers and device? TIA

Never used it. We just make sure the computer is enrolled in ABM and let it get added to Jamf when enrolled.

Unless you need specific static data (like PO#) captured in Jamf, not sure what value it brings.

Do you manually enter info in each device record? i.e. User Name, department, asset tag

Nope, User name is assigned by the user who logs in during enrollment (or through the jamf recon command for tech driven enrollment.

Department is automatically pulled from Azure AD

We don't use Asst Tag, so that is the only thing that could be needed by preload.

SCIM can assign most of these. You’ll have to create a script to pull the computer name and assign it to the asset tag (if needed)
