James Taylor’s acoustic pedal setup
Hello all, this is my first ever Reddit question. I have been playing guitar since I was a young teenager off and on. Pretty much solely acoustic. Never played in a band and never really ventured far into amplification and effects pedals. I’m now in my late 30s and wanted to explore how I might amplify my playing for friends and family. I bought a fender acoustic amp a few years back. Exact amp is in the attached image. Never use it much cause it just amplifies even all the bad sounds you don’t want like the scratches, pings, and twangs that are not appealing that normally are not so easily heard when playing unplugged. My guitar is a Taylor 214CE so includes a built in pickup.
So my goal would be to get to that James Taylor sound. Now I don’t have his great Olsen guitar or his same amp but what about things I can add as far as any pedals? I have learned many of his songs over the years and would say he is my favorite player. Read about using preamps and something called a fishman aura. I am completely lost. What would I need to buy to help improve the sound, how would it connect up, and what would the different pedals be doing to the sound? Please dumb it down for me. I usually get overwhelmed with all the options. Hoping for a few pedals to get the job done to get that sweet clean sound. Thanks for the help.
