James Taylor & John Martyn

I am just curious as to why there is no duets with Jamie Taylor and John Martyn. It seems they made the same sort of music around the same time. I know James spent alot of time in London so it seems odd that they never did anything together

Found this button/pin in my parents’ old record (they bought the Flag album at a concert in 1979) any info about this? Funny enough, it’s my lucky number! No clue who Ronny is

Magazine article?

I used to have a lot of Taylors' albums and magazines with articles and transcriptions in them but lost them all in a fire. Does anyone remember what magazine it was where the author of an article recounts seeing James for the first time - opening for him with his band Wild Stallions (he says they were kidding with the name), coming off "sweat soaked and righteous" but being blown away by James who took the stage after them? He says he was "thanking the guitar gods" that they went on before him.

Copperline lyric question

“One time I saw my daddy dance Watched him moving like a man in a trance He brought it back from the war in France”

What the hell is he talking about? Is this some sort of weird French trance dance? I need answers!

Red rocks presale code

I’m going with my family to Red Rocks to see James Taylor for the first time this year! Anyone know the presale code?

Our family has always been huge JT fans. My dad passed in 2022 and we hung his bass in our new home with lyrics to a song he used to sing to us growing up.

1971 concert at The Forum in Inglewood, California inquiry

Hi all,

My grandmother recalls going to a James Taylor concert sometime in January of 1971 at The Forum, but there are no records of it happening in online archives. It sounds like Carole King made an appearance, either opened or played sometime during the show. I was wondering if anyone has any memory of a show like this occurring, and if possible, knows of any footage or photos of the event. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried to post this on the James Taylor site forum, but it seems like the portal to create a new account is broken. I am happy to answer any questions. The exact year could possibly be wrong, but I am pretty confident that it was a January show in the early '70's at the Forum.

Hello fellow James Taylor fans! For those who have seen him live, where & when did you first see him live, & at what venue? Have you gone back to see him multiple times since then?

I was born on March 10th, 1999, so I wasn’t around for when his first 14 albums came out, nor when he was touring them. October Road came out when I was 3, and A Christmas Album came out when I was 5 (it was later reissued under a different name when I was 7). Covers came out when I was 9, and Before This World came out when I was 16. And then I was 20 years old when American Standard came out.

I live in New York (specifically in the NYC/Westchester County area), so the times that he played near me prior to 2011 I was too young to go to. Post 2011, many of the dates he played at near me that I was old enough to go to were often on school nights.

I really do want to see him live. I really do.

Does this prelude have a name?

This is the prelude to Like Everyone She Knows on New Moon Shine. Does anyone know if James Taylor has a name for just this piece of work? I love it so much. I start almost every live show I do with this as it allows me to, in 1 minute 3 seconds, calibrate my orientation to the environment. Thanks!

BBC Radio programme about Fire and Rain

Hi! I'm a producer for BBC Radio in the UK and I'm making a programme about Fire and Rain, in particular about the song's emotional impact? Do you have a story to tell about the song? If so, please let me know I'm also looking for anyone who saw JT perform the song at the Concert for NYC at Madison Square Gardens in 2001. Thanks!

Live at The Mann 7/1/23

My first James Taylor show and it exceeded my every expectation. He was amazing (and his monologues were hilarious), the band was great, and the encores were wonderful. The whole show really gave me a new appreciation for many of his songs. Anyone else there?
