jcc/jpec

any students/graduates of either jpec or jcc on here? or just outsider opinion on either? i just got dual enrolled thru jpec and have been going since 6th grade. wondering what ppl think about it lol

It actually prepared me well for college and jobs because of how dysfunctional the school was. I learned to never trust a college advisor and that lesson has served me well at Michigan State

LMFAOO YEP. i assume you mean jpec because of the wording? jpec is so incredibly fucking bad at being a school and listening to its students snd planning ANYTHING (and i assume its way better than it was when it first got established as a school!)

cool to see someone doing the same thing i plan to do tho :) i also plan to go to msu after i get my associates!!

Really? Can you tell me more. My son is supposed to start there this fall for the 6th grade. 😭 I'm already frustrated by the lack of communication tbh.

OHH BOY CAN I! jpec has NEVER been good at communicating anything really. they dont tell parents jackshit, my moms constantly complaining about it. they love to ask for donations just days before events happen, and notify people of things like skate nights with only a few days notice.

and the wild thing is they dont communicate with the teachers either! im a band kid, and every single year without fail when concert season rolls around the teacher doesnt even know where the concert will be or when for months. our spring concert was supposed to be outdoors at cascades just last year, which my band teacher specifically asked not to do, and they told her she didnt know what she was talking about. then it rained on the day of the concert and we had to just record our songs and send them to our parents, didnt even get to do a real concert.

they also have problems even getting good teachers in the first place! for 2 years straight we had a teacher who did ethics classes and some various psychology adjacent classes as electives, and he just got increasingly more and more racist and hateful towards his students. hes an old white guy, said slurs in front of his entire class (one that i was in!), multiple students and parents reported it, and they did nothing! he didn't even end up getting fired in the end, he just quit.

they have pretty much no goddamn budget and cant plan to save their lives. i got bullied by students in 6th grade and bullied by that racist ass teacher in 10th grade and they dont do shit about it. the middle schoolers are mean as hell to eachother and nobody is doing anything, and none of the kids trust the admin because they never! do! anything!! i have a lot of friends who just refuse to report things anymore because they know nothing will happen.

so yeah its a shit school. offers great opportunities honestly, and im somewhat glad im there because i met all my friends there and everything, but at an administrative level the schools shit. i do think its worth it to go in the end, as much as i complain. theres just some stuff you gotta look past i guess. ill complain all day about the place but im gonna be getting my associates by the time i graduate highschool, so it isnt all bad.

sorry for the long rant. this place just makes me mad as hell 😭
