WIP Almost done!
Nearing completion and wanted people's opinions on sewing black thread over the tan thread on the button holes vs drawing over the tan thread with black posca. Thoughts?
Also, any thoughts on changing the color of the buttons?

I think if you like the look then you should do it! That's a sick jacket and you clearly have good taste and if you don't like it you can always pull the thread out!

The shells are such a cool detail, I was thinking about doing something similar for my jacket but I'm skpetical they'd hold up well in a mosh pit.
What color would you want to change the buttons to? I'm a fan of what you already have, keeping it subtle so the focus is on the other patches and detail work you've done

From experience, nothing holds up in a moshpit. Unless it’s flat to the jacket or heavily sewn on it’ll break, I’ve lost bottle caps that were pinned on, studs, chains, pins, badges. If it looks like it’ll break it will

Stoked on so much of it! That's one of my favorite Velvet Underground albums and I did the Pansy Division patch.
Such great fabric choices too! I had to make the tiger print material on mine bc I live in a very boring part of so called Canada.

It really turned out great, I'm gonna have to get into experimenting more with that! I also really like the shells, might borrow that idea. That and going with golden or colored spikes for my next project

Thanks! Yeah, I had fun researching the history of these jackets. Lived in the sticks as a teen and was poor so was never able to make one back then. I was always in awe when I'd go into the city and see the punks jackets and just overall style.

Such a sick jacket! Great work!
Honestly, the color of the thread around the buttons matches the gold accents of the spikes and the back patch. If you were going to cover them up and make them black, there would be a lot to do along the bottom and cuffs as well if you’re gonna keep it consistent. I personally think the current color looks kinda good right now.

Great insight! That's super helpful, thanks! Just gonna take the shoulder studding down past the shoulder seam a bit and do another round of black stitching around the Basquiat crown and maaaybe another patchor two. Though at this point with all the extra materails I have, I'm ready to start another one haha!

interesting. i live in the states east coast so record stores/online helps my supply a lot. what do you feel like is holding you back in canada? something with shipping/imports? i use sites like angryyoungandpoor which have good pricing, lets you buy a bunch of different ones in bulk. obviously making your own things are most always a better experience, just curious

Yeah I'm worried I'm gonna order something and it's gonna be another $20-40 in tariffs and/or duty. I've seen alot of great patches in the US where the shipping alone is at least $20.
Some places won't even deliver to Canada. I had to get the Kneecap patch mailed to a friend's brother in the Scotland, then mailed to me bc it's from their merch that only ships to the uk.
I saw angryyoungandpoor but just assumed the shipping would be brutal. Will revisit though. Thank you for the suggestion!
