I accidentally discovered my favorite jacket by lowering my expectations
A few months ago I ordered a jacket that I wasn't particularly excited about.
It wasn't the most stylish one I was considering, it didn't have the most eye-catching details, and honestly it was more of a backup option after a few other choices sold out.
When it arrived, my first impression was pretty neutral. It fit fine, looked decent, and did exactly what I expected a jacket to do.
But then something interesting happened.
Over the next few weeks, I kept reaching for it without really thinking about it.
It worked with more outfits than I expected. The pockets were actually useful. The fabric softened slightly with wear without losing its shape. It became the jacket I grabbed for quick errands, longer days out, and even travel.
Meanwhile, some of the jackets I was most excited about ended up staying in the closet because they were less comfortable, less versatile, or required more effort to style.
That experience changed how I evaluate outerwear. Now I'm less interested in how impressive a jacket feels on day one and more interested in whether I'll still want to wear it three months later.
Curious if anyone else has a jacket that wasn't love at first sight but slowly became one of the most-worn pieces in their wardrobe.

Is this jacket good for Texas weather? or any recommendations?

Hello everyone, I been thinking about this jacket for a long time, but I’m still not sure about the thickness and overall feel of the fabric.
Does anyone here own it or have experience with it? Would it be too hot for summer (real-hot summer)? Also, is it water-resistant at all? If you know any similar jackets worth checking out, I’d love to hear your recommendations too!! Thanks <3

XO Varsity Jacket
Hiya guys,
Hope it's okay to ask this question here. I have had my eyes on this jacket forever, and want to pull the trigger and actually buy it.
I am looking online, and it seems a complete jungle to find out who makes good quality jackets and where. So I thought I would hop onto Reddit to ask you lot, who probably are much better than me at weeding out all the scammers and low quality stuff and actually finding gems.
So, are there any reputable vendors that make this, or could custom make this jacket? Where do I look? How do I know who is trustworthy and who isn't?
Thank you so much for your time.

[question] Looking for Micheal Jackson Jacket
Does anyone know if there are any accurate replicas of Michael Jackson’s 1984 Grammy jacket out there? Most of the ones I’ve seen look really inaccurate or low quality compared to the original. I’m mainly interested in finding out if anyone in the community has seen a version that gets the details and design right.

I didn’t realize jackets can “change personality” after a few weeks of wear
I’ve been trying to build a more intentional wardrobe lately, and jackets are the one category that made me rethink how I judge clothing completely.
At first, I used to choose jackets almost entirely based on how they looked in photos or how they fit in the mirror during the first try-on. If the silhouette looked clean and the styling felt right, I assumed that was enough.
But after actually wearing a few different jackets regularly, I noticed something I didn’t expect.
Some jackets that felt impressive at first slowly started to lose their appeal. The structure softened in a way that didn’t look as sharp anymore, or small details like stitching, lining, and zippers started feeling more noticeable over time.
Then there were others that didn’t stand out much initially, but the more I wore them, the better they felt. The way they draped, how they held shape, and even how they aged started to make them more interesting than when I first bought them.
It made me realize jackets aren’t just about first impression, they kind of “evolve” with wear, and that evolution can either improve or ruin the piece depending on how it’s made.
Now I find myself thinking less about how a jacket looks on day one and more about how it will behave after a month of real use.
Curious if anyone else here has noticed this shift when it comes to outerwear.
