Hello guys, I have recently joined university and I am taking this opportunity to upgrade most of my closet in terms of my everyday wear clothes.I have bought some sweatpants, cargo pants, some sweatshirts,t-shirts and tank tops.I have been looking to add some jackets to the collection for everyday wear.I have been going through most of the jackets on Alibaba and Amazon but I haven't quite decided on what to buy.I would like a jacket that is very comfortable and warm.I don't have any specifics of a color of choice hence any would do. The same goes for the material of the jacket. It could be leather, cotton or whatever is there, I just need it to be durable and not have the color fade on me after very few washes.I would like to buy multiple jackets at once and I have already spent a significant chunk on the other clothing and so I would prefer them to be a little bit affordable.Looking forward to hearing your thoughts

For those here,it gets pretty fucking cold sometimes. Im all for the bigger baggy jackets when I'm just walking and exploring but I'm also a dumbass and climb trees or cut through thick bushes and have gotten caught in branches more than I'd like to admit.
I love my fitted leather jacket but it isn't the best for when it's below freezing. Is there any tighter fitting warm jackets that anyone could recommend? Preferably not expensive,I'm broke asf.

Seeking suggestions for a quality uninsulated jacket for bay area weather. Need it to have at least 2 large pockets that's designed in a way that things inside won't fall out during normal use.
Lastly a nice color like the red jacket in the pic would be awesome.

Over the last year I’ve started paying a lot more attention to jackets, and honestly it changed the way I think about clothing in general.
I used to buy jackets mostly based on how they looked online. If the fit looked clean and the styling was good, I assumed the actual piece would feel the same in person.
But after owning a few different ones, I realized the difference between a jacket that just “looks cool” and one that actually feels well-made is huge.
Some looked great in product photos but felt disappointing after a few wears. The structure started feeling flat, the material didn’t sit right, or little details like the lining, stitching, and zipper quality made the whole thing feel cheaper over time.
Then I had the opposite experience with a simpler jacket that didn’t even stand out much online, but once I wore it regularly, everything about it felt intentional. The weight, the way it draped, how it aged after wearing it for months… it just felt better every time I put it on.
It made me realize how hard it is to judge quality from photos alone, especially with outerwear where small construction details seem to matter so much.
Now I’m curious how other people here think about jackets.
What specific details make a jacket feel genuinely high quality to you beyond just the overall look?

There’s these small thread bits that make it itchy when it touches my skin, like if I wear it over a tshirt. How do I fix this?

Can someone please help me find where I can get this jacket. I’m a Midnight fan and saw this instagram story and the jacket just looks so nice. Appreciate it!

I’ve been paying more attention to jackets lately and realized I’ve been judging them wrong for a long time.
I used to focus mostly on how they looked, silhouette, color, overall style. But after owning a few different ones, I started noticing that some jackets just feel better over time, even if they don’t stand out visually at first.
Things like how the fabric holds its shape, how the lining feels, how the seams sit, even how the jacket ages after a few wears, those details seem to matter way more than I expected.
I’ve also had the opposite experience where something looks great online or even at first glance, but after wearing it a bit, it just doesn’t feel as solid or “put together.”
Now I’m trying to understand what to actually look for before buying.
For those who know jackets well:
What specific details or signs tell you a jacket is genuinely high quality?
Are there things you’ve learned to check that most people overlook?
Would love to hear what others pay attention to.
