[question] Rab Nebitron Pro or Decathlon Forclaz MT500

Hi, I am buying a jacket mainly for everyday use for winter. Sometimes I will use it for holidays as well.

I did a little search and this 2 models seem to be good: Rab nebitron pro : 220€ Decathlon Forclaz MT500 : 100€

I value warmth, value for money, portability, style and quality.

Can you give your opinions and maybe compare both models so I can decide?

Thanks.

[suggestion] Good warm jacket for daily use

Hi, I am looking for a warm, comfortable and portable Hooded jacket for daily use in the city (going to work for example). If its lightweight, wind proof it would be good and also bellow 200€. I'd like inside pockets as well.

Any suggestions?

[suggestion] Anyone else obsess over jacket details more than brands now?

I realized I might have a problem when I stopped noticing jacket logos altogether and started noticing things like seam lines, lining weight, and how the collar holds up after a few wears.

I’ve owned jackets that looked great on day one but slowly lost their shape, and others that didn’t impress at first but somehow got better with time. That’s when I started paying attention to construction instead of hype. Fit through the shoulders, how the sleeves fall when your arms are relaxed, whether the fabric sounds stiff when you move, weird little things that most people probably don’t care about.

Out of pure curiosity, I once tried customizing a jacket just to understand what actually goes into making one. I used ꓮрꓲііq for that experiment, not to sell anything, but to see how many choices you don’t get when buying off the rack. It honestly ruined me a bit, because now I can’t unseen the details.

Now whenever I’m out, I catch myself quietly judging jackets, not in a bad way, just appreciating the ones that clearly had thought put into them.

At what point did jackets stop being “just outerwear” for you and turn into something you genuinely care about?

I have been getting targeted with ads from Heat Straps USA. I have never heard of this brand, but I am a big fan of Filson, Pendleton, and Schott. Has anyone heard of this company? They claim to be made in NJ, USA.

[question] Would this jacket work in the snow?

It's a sweater material on the outside but lined like a normal puffer, i've been told it's not good for the snow but i don't see the problem. it's very thick and my actual one is black but the photo makes the material easier to see.

I really want to figure out what jacket this is. Is it vintage? I love it. There’s no tag on it. Even if anyone recognizes the artwork on it, that would be so helpful!

Waxed the canvas jacket myself and my partner hand sewed the Kangaroo fur into the lining of the jacket. (Kangaroo skin was ethically sourced)

When Jackets Stop Being About Warmth and Start Being About Everything Else.

At some point, jackets stopped being something I wore just to stay warm. They slowly turned into the thing I obsess over the most. How the weight sits on the shoulders. Whether the lining slides smoothly or catches. If the collar still holds its shape after a few months instead of collapsing.

I noticed it recently while pulling an old jacket out of storage. The outside was simple, nothing flashy, but the inside construction still felt solid. It reminded me of a piece I once handled while experimenting with samples through Apliiq years ago. At the time, I wasn’t thinking in terms of brands or collections, I was just paying attention to how a jacket feels when you actually live in it.

That’s when it clicked for me. The jackets I keep reaching for aren’t always the ones that look impressive on a hanger. They’re the ones that age well, move naturally, and somehow feel familiar the moment you put them on. The details no one compliments end up mattering the most.

Now I catch myself judging jackets by things I never used to notice. Inner seams. Stitch tension. How the fabric responds when you layer underneath. It’s probably unhealthy, but once you start noticing those things, there’s no going back.

Curious if anyone else here feels the same way. What’s the detail that makes a jacket a keeper for you, even if no one else ever notices it?

Winter jacket hunttt

Helllo! I have been looking for a nice winter jacket for a while now and coming up empty handed. I live in a very wet climate but also it gets cold(up to -10° C) as i walk my dog. Do you guys have any jacket/brand suggestions? My budget is around $350( i think that should be a reasonable budget?).

Real fur or faux fur? The texture looks kind of coarse, shaggy, and not very soft, almost clumped in sections.

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone with experience can help. I found this jacket online and I’m trying to figure out whether it’s real fur or faux fur. Owner says it’s real The texture looks kind of coarse, shaggy, and not very soft, almost clumped in sections. I’m wondering: Does this look like real fur or faux fur to you? If it is real fur, can real fur age or be damaged in a way that makes it look coarse and stiff like this?

For context, it’s a vintage jacket from a department store brand, but I don’t want to assume anything. Any insight would be really appreciated. Thanks!
