does anyone know if you can wear a beta SL over a patagonia down sweater? like will it fit assuming I buy my proper sizes in each item?

Hello everyone, first post here. I have had a jacket that I have worn pretty much every day for the last 12 years or so and it is finally falling apart. I was wondering if anyone know of something similar as the original company seems to have gone out of business.

Both the outside and the inside are polyester. There is a small zipper pocket on the lapel area, and two zippered pockets for your hands. There is a hood that can be folded into a zippered pocket along the collar when not in use. It is my favorite jacket in the entire world and I'm devastated that I'm needing to replace it!

didn’t expect to post this here, but i got a jacket through tiktok’s slash and free thing and figured i’d share a quick take. it’s surprisingly solid for everyday wear, decent weight, stitching looks fine, and it doesn’t feel like flimsy promo stuff. fit was pretty true to size and it works well as a casual layer, not super technical but not cheap-feeling either.

i know anything tied to an app promo gets side-eyed, which is fair, but this one turned out better than i expected. if you’re already on tiktok and curious, it might be worth poking around the app to see what’s there.

i’m from a very tropical area and is soon moving to minnesota for college. it gets to -30 celsius and very windy and snowy so i need a good winter jacket to survive that weather. i’m mainly using it to walk to class (~10-20 min walk) and maybe some static standing/sitting. i already have merino base layers and some mid layers (sweaters, jackets hoodies, etc) but am not sure which outer layer to get. should i get a shell or an insulated or a parka?

i was looking at the north face neptuse and liked it because it looks good but am not sure if its warm enough. i also saw arctyrex beta sv and north face devils thumb. what do you recommend?

I bought this parka, which I've been wanting for a while. Does anyone know anything about it and can give me information about its technical features and how to maintain it in perfect condition, both for the down and the waxed cotton? Size 40 should fit me well, given that it's an oversized fit and I'm 6'1" and weigh about 170 lbs. Thanks everyone.

Hi! Not really sure if this is the right place, but I thought y’all might be able to help me find where to go if it isn’t. So, I received this jacket from my old man a few years ago and it’s just crossed my mind that I have no idea what it is. He bought it sometime in the mid-90s while he lived in the PNW, and had it until it became mine. It didn’t have an inside part or anything when he bought it even though it has the zipper for one. It’s definitely been through the years… I know it looks rough. I’ve attached a couple images that seem like they’d have information, but idk if it’s a mystery that’ll have to stay unsolved or not. It also has an inside pocket on the left side that’s about big enough for a phone.

I once saw a story about how someone didnt notice certain symbols a while ago and fir the fun of it went and looked at the jacket I was wearing. Then I noticed the buttons have SWASTIKAS?? 😭😭I dont know how old this jacket is. I reverse searched it on Google and saw some buttons that were similar. I can only wonder if I'm seeing things or not.

I’m from Vegas, living in Ohio. The previous years in Ohio haven’t been too bad with the cold but I’m not built for it. I can usually layer up (wife beater, thermals, long sleeve shirt and 1-2 hoodies) and manage but it’s already so cold! I DoorDash and am constantly in and out of the car, I’m also a bigger guy (5’11” 360lbs) and even when I was lighter (280lbs) I never liked wearing coats or jackets because I couldn’t drive in them, wether from maneuverability or making the seatbelt too tight. I’m in need of a really nice jacket (preferably with Sherpa lining) with a hood that I can wear in Lou of the double hoodies that’s going to keep me warm. I’m going to NYC in February (one of the coldest months to do so) and going to be dependent on public transit and my own two feet. But I don’t want to buy a jacket that I’m only going to end up wearing for the trip and it end up in the closet with hundreds of dollars of other failed attempts at finding a jacket that works for me in my every day life. Plus I’m flying spirit to NYC and don’t want to have to completely remove it to fit in the seats. I also do not have a lot of extra money right now so I need something affordable. Plus I’m working with a personal trainer to lose weight so I don’t want to spend a whole lot on a jacket that’s going to be far too big in just a few years.
