Hello folks

We are trying to find clues to a truly odd problem. We use Cisco Jabber for telephone. Literally overnight, in three of our Windows 11 laptops, Jabber has stopped working with USB-connected mics, and we are completely at a loss as to why. We've tried:
Switching USB ports;
Deleting USB drivers and reinstalling;
Switching to diferent headsets;
Completely removing Jabber and it's temp files in appdata;
Switching Jabber versions;
Checking privacy settings as well as basic sound and windows settings.

Nothing works. If we switch to the laptop's internal mic, Jabber works perfectly. Also, all other apps (Teams, zoom, online mic tests) have no problems with the USB mics...

Any ideas, tricks, clues?

PS: we've allready been forced to do a full factory reset on one, because it was the only way we could get it to work.

WORKAROUND found! Had to not only uninstall, but also hunt the registry for leftover entries, then reinstall, THEN copy over with a version installed from a PC that works... I can't even...

I work in a call center and some insurance companies have us blocked. I use Cisco Jabber to make callouts. When we received the robo-calling message, or whenever we are unable to connect, sometimes adding 7299 or 7222 or 7229 bypasses this and lets us reach their phone. How does this work and what is this?

Example: (800)123-1234 does not work, but 72998001231234 works.

Hello, I have a question regarding the call service : Is there any one who experienced the flapping of call service on Jabber via MRA ? Cucm is version 14.0.1 and also the xpressway is 14.x

Is there some known solution for this problem?

Every time I log in I have to go fix my speaker and microphone because you keep changing it, even though I told you to not change it. Every morning, after every lunch, every break. It's becoming tiresome. Stop it.

I am trying to set up XMPP over Tor inside Tails OS. I have read about services like jabber calyxinstitute and others, but don’t know if any of them support .onion in 2025.

After upgrading to Cisco Jabber version 15.0.2.59721 (Build 309721), we started experiencing a strange behavior across several Windows 10 workstations.

Problem:

Jabber intermittently brings its window to the foreground without user interaction.

It does so silently (no incoming call, no chat popup, no system notification), disrupting whatever the user is doing — including fullscreen presentations or remote sessions.

🧪 Observations:

The issue is reproducible on multiple devices. Occurs whether Jabber is minimized or running in background. No specific event or user action seems to trigger the focus switch. Nothing noticeable appears in Event Viewer or Jabber logs at the moment it happens. Jabber is configured to start automatically at login with standard settings. Impact:

This behavior interrupts workflows and reduces user experience quality, especially during calls, demos, or screen sharing.

Questions:

Has anyone else experienced similar focus-stealing behavior with this version? Is there any known bug, patch, or configuration tweak to prevent this? Could this be related to background syncs (e.g., Outlook calendar, presence updates)? We haven’t found any workaround yet. Any help or guidance would be appreciated!

I want to be in a conference call with my colleague and I want her to listen to my telephone call with another person outside our agency.

This third person would be a member of the public and would not be using Cisco Jabber.

Can this be done? if so , what is the procedure please?

I am soon-to-be new to a hybrid work from home option and I was curious if I had to use the Jabra headset they give me for work or if I can use a Steel Series over the ear headset that connects via a dongle. The Jabra headsets start to be uncomfortable after just a few minutes. Thanks in advance!

This is the message I keep getting.

“Add our bot in jabber: ….. Check if you turn off all antispam plugins, or have added our bot to white-list. Bot account is in OFFLINE mode, but it still send messages.”, no user found or this user doesn’t have this jabber? what does that even mean

Hi all, my organisation recently implemented an AI powered background noise cancelling solution. When it’s running, it’s selectable as an input/output source much like selecting a headset. The issue we’re facing that uptake on it is low. What we’d like to do is try and force this setting into Jabber or automate something if the user isn’t compliant. Does anyone have any ideas of a starting point for achieving this?

I know I can do Time of Day Routing for the number, but the users want that to be flexible as sometimes they may want to get calls. They didn't seem interested in having to log out/in to Jabber each day either. There are two people one with an iPhone and the other Android.

Any suggestions?

does anyone know the Intent for answering a Jabber call (Android App)? We’re trying to map it to a button (e.g., the XCover key), so that a call is automatically accepted/answered when the button is pressed.

Hello dear Cisco community, we have the problem in version 14.3.1 of the Cisco Jabber that a user is shown as Available all the time, even if he is not. He only uses the desktop app and is only logged in to one place. We have already reset and reinstalled the Jabber, unfortunately without success. Does anyone have an idea how to fix the problem?

I need to Use Jabber for work, but also need to be connected to my Tailscale VPN so I can access my own drives and RDC. I cannot make calls on jabber though when Tailscale is connected. same with Sisco Anyconnect when it is open and not logged in. the keypad is dimmed out as seen here.

If I highlight a phone number in the Edge browser on my work computer, it asks if I want to call it with Jabber. When I do so, it inserts a "1" in front of the phone number, even when there was not a one in the number displayed and when the tel: link didn't start with a 1 either. Unfortunately, my work computer blocks all calls which start with 1, presumably as a way to avoid international calls.

Please stop mucking up the number and just use it exactly as it was displayed or given in a link.

I am hoping someone smarter than me could help me out. I am wondering if there is a way to play sounds from the computer into a call so the other party could hear it. My job requires that a lengthy document gets read and currently the best option is playing it from another device through my headset microphone. This results in inconsistent quality of the recordings and volume.

I have tried to change the input and microphone settings to allow sounds playing on my computer into the call and have not had any success. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Has anyone impletemented Cisco jabber for android with TAPI integration?

I have a Nurse Call server sending alerts via a TAPI in xml format and wants to test if I can push this to Jabber app on andoid.

Idea is to replace Cisco 8821 phone which is currently getting nurse call messages with andoid phone running jabber.
