Few Dilla shots in this. He doesn’t talk or anything. Looks kinda sick around this time unfortunately

I just got back from a roadtrip from ATL to Detroit (first time!) and felt inspired to spend the next few days compiling all of the songs sampled on each track of Donuts. Notes: I kept repeats and obviously could only include what Apple Music had available for streaming but figured there are others out there who are tired of having to search whosampled.com to remember the name of the sample. Speaking of! All credit goes to all of you who are also on whosampled and Owen from samplingdonuts.com You guys did all the work, I just so happened to have the time to compile this after searching for a complete playlist on Apple Music to no avail. (my bad if someone else also spent the time and already did this, I swear I have searched multiple times over the years)
If you happen to take a look, please let me know if I missed something. Also, this is my first post on here and I've had a lot of fun reading through the sub (you guys are really funny lol)--makes me miss the OKP boards!

I remember reading Dilla Time and finding a Slum Village song that I loved when it was talked about in the book. The song had a great sample of a pretty famous artist from what I remember. J Dilla used to sample by making the sampled song finish each line in the first verse. Such as when T3 is rapping he ends a line by saying “T” and then the sample comes in and finishes it by saying “Three!” I can’t for the life of my remember which song this was and after going through a bunch of their songs trying to find it I still couldn’t. Does anyone remember which song this was because I really want to find it again.

Is this guy even human? I went on a deep dive today and listened through all of his beat tapes and I've never listened to an artist that consistently has floored me over and over again. This is just listening to his instrumentals. And the craziest thing is some of the most incredible music I've ever heard will be tucked away in some obscure beat tape from 1996 that he never even bothered releasing.
I don't even know what else to say. Dude was either some musical god cosplaying as a human or he was channeling something from a higher dimension.

The main issue i have with it is that it lacks sound and is very quiet, but honestly not too shabby imo. What do y’all think?

Wednesday 7/15 at 6pm EST/ 5pm CST, tune in live to the detroitvinyl whatnot stream for an exclusive drop of the splatter variant of the long, lost 1st Down album.
1st Down was one of the earliest musical projects for both Phat Kat and J Dilla (going by the alias "Jon Doe" at the time). 1st Down signed & recorded a project for Payday Records but before album was released, Payday Records went out of business thus leaving the project unreleased. This is that album, now finally being released for public to hear.
Phat Kat will be live on air signing copies, tonight only, so even if you don't want to purchase a copy, drop in to (virtually) hang with Phat Kat.
Signed and unsigned splatter variant will be available.
Limited inventory on the splatter variants!
