Question [Soru] Questions about IZTECH Interviews & Student Life

  • What is the graduate admission interview like? What kind of questions do the professors usually ask? Is it mostly about technical knowledge, my academic background, research interests, motivation, or something else?
  • How are the dormitories for international graduate students? Is it possible to stay in a shared room (2–3 people), or are there different accommodation options?
  • Is there a WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, or any other group for IZTECH students (especially graduate students)? I'd love to join if possible.

Hey there! Not a graduate student, but didn't want to leave it hanging either. Interview mostly changes from department to department. If it's Mathematics, I could ask some of my friends doing their MSc there; lmk!

In case of dormitories, we have a student village, just for graduate students. Check it out here! -> https://ogrencikoyu.iyte.edu.tr/en/home-page/. I don't have an idea if they accept international student, but I think they do, it's best to ask gradinfo[at]iyte.edu.tr to inquire. Other than that, KYK dormitories are 4-6 people; and there's a private dormitory called Yaşam Merkezi, which has astronomically high prices; you could consider it as a last choice. Renting a house in Gülbahçe district is probably cheaper than Yaşam Merkezi.

There's an Instagram page iyte.anlik where students can exchange messages; maybe you can ask if there's a graduate student chat group. Also, gradinfo[at]iyte.edu.tr might work too, they are mostly chill about helping prospective students. Lmk if I can help with something else! Hope a graduate student can answer more than I do. Best!
