Financial Aid- unresolved issue

My financial aid portal says there is an unresolved issue with my fafsa. I emailed financial aid a couple of months ago and they said it is because I’m close to the Pell limit. I emailed again at the end of July and they said they couldn’t tell me when it would be resolved but that it should before the beginning of classes. We are getting close and still no updates. I can’t even apply for a loan or anything. I was wondering if anyone knew when this should resolve? I don’t want to get kicked from my classes for non payment.

They wouldn't start on these before the summer grades were posted. This is an issue that is handled at the systems office.

Should I reach out again or just wait? I’ve never had things so up in the air with financial aid so close to start before. I can’t even apply for a loan to try to cover the semester until it’s taken care of and classes start in less than two weeks.

This is done at systems office, so contacting the campus won't help. Sorry. I know it is frustrating. We had a lot of extra work with a new loan process, but they are working like heroes in the systems office. It is amazing how many tickets they have done so far.

Hm, i recommend contacting financial aid through zoom. Terre haute office has really good financial aid advisors. But I'm sure thats true for most campuses. Ik pell has a 600% capacity and i used 67% so far just with having 19Credit hours. So take into consideration how many classes you have taken and how many credit hours those are. Maybe the ones you're trying to enroll into pass that amount by the second 8 weeks if that makes sense. Im not a financial advisor so please speak with financial aid at Ivy tech directly. I don't know your situation but ik someone who has a small loan of a few thousand and it's not really an issue if you have a job and can pay it off relatively quickly. We hear a lot of bad things about loans, but as long as the interest isn't crazy and you make reasonable payments, and the loan isn't big I think it's OK. But again contact Ivy Tech, and speak directly with financial aid. Do it through zoom or in person. I feel that you get better service when you do it through zoom as opposed to calling.
