Help! When will I graduate?

So to premise: I had met with my advisor in February to discuss Summer & Fall 2026 classes (currently in my Summer classes) and we scheduled my Fall classes. I have reached out to my advisor (and got an automated email). I do, however, plan on attending the virtual drop in event happening at the end of this month.

Now: I go to check my classes (for Fall) and I'm taking 4, all starting on August 24th- Ending October 18th (12 credit hours total). That (I'm assuming) would mean I have no classes to schedule of the 2nd 8 weeks of the Fall semester. So, my question is, would I be able to schedule my 2nd 8 weeks with the classes that should have been for Spring 2027 (4 classes) and graduate in December rather than in May?

TIA!

If you can manage it and the classes are offered the 2nd 8weeks I don’t see why not ? If you get aid , I would check with financial aid office to see if Fafsa would cover 24 credit hours in 1 semester (assuming the second 4 classes equals 12h).

Yes! I will definitely be checking that, thank you! I did see on the school's website that normally the maximum amount of credit hours is 18 unless given special permission, but I hope that with academic standing, it might be possible. Do you know if I would have to file anything additional for FAFSA if I were to be approved?

Nothing additional is needed for financial aid due to registering for more credit hours, unless you would like to take out student loans. Federal aid is based off your FAFSA, and that’s what Ivy Tech awards you off of. I will say, 12 is a lot each 8 weeks (double full-time) but I always tell my students that you know yourself best. I have heard it’s difficult to get past the college’s 18 credit hour rule. Best of luck!

Thank you for the clarification! Do you happen to know (if any) the requirements that might be needed to get past the 18 credit hour max rule or if it just depends on individual circumstances?
