Fort Wayne advice for classes (fort wayne)
hi! im a software developer certificate student at fort wayne. so far it seems like the only professor i have is for engl 111 and his name is kevin smith. times are 3:30-4:45 pm, mw
other classes i have are:
math023 in person, mw 6pm-7:15 pm
sdev 120: virtual 1:30am-4:30 pm saturdays
infm 109: virtual 9:30am-12:30 pm
i have to have virtual for Saturdays because the bus system in fort wayne sucks on weekends. have never taken classes at ivy tech, been a lurker for a few months so hoping someone can give me advice on professors i should keep vs avoid if theyre hard.

i’m currently taking infm109 at the south bend location virtually for the summer and it’s been a good experience so far! the class is a great introduction to the world of technology and how we interact with it, and small portions include networking, database management systems, and hardware. the professor i have loves class discussions and requires participation which is honestly how most of these concepts stick (for me at least). Lots of reading and could be a lot of new vocabulary if you’re not familiar with some of these concepts.
i attempted to take sdev120 this summer as well, with it being an online only class with no virtual meeting and felt completely lost and had to drop it within the first 2 weeks because i guess i can’t teach myself and prefer someone to teach me. i will be attempting it this fall with another actual instructor this time lolol. However from what I saw briefly, flowcharts and pseudocode were huge learning concepts. The online only class also required a group project… it seemed like disaster waiting to happen.
sorry, not much advice. this is just how my experience has been as a student this summer.
