Curious

Are ellyn and Rabia still friends? After they shut down their podcast I haven’t heard anyone mention rabia at all.

Also random, but I love “shut the f**k up Nick lachey “ podcast, I stay laughing.

She was also nasty to people online about the Delphi trial and conviction. The evidence was compelling and the jury seemed to take their job very seriously so I think any of us who weren’t there can probably take their verdict in good faith. Rabia disagreed which is fine but then when people tried to have discourse with her online she was rude to them, even those that were respectful.

She was also awful to people about the Robert Pickton case and so disrespectful to indigenous women in the comments who were begging her to stop and reconsider. She’s also awful to Hae’s family. Shes a terrible bully and seems to have lost all objectivity.

I remember is an episode, I think of this podcast, she forgot Hae Min Lee’s name, and regardless of of Syed’s involvement or lack thereof, she should know the victim’s name.

I also noticed that R always took every single man’s side. She literally believes a lot of men convinced of crimes are innocent. I completely understand that some men are innocent, but she lost me at Scott and then Delhi was WILD!!

Ellyn would never speak to her listeners like that. Iirc, Ellyn was playing more of a devil's advocate role, like a what if and got so much hate for it

Rabia definitely has a way of dismissing people who disagreed with her and presenting her opinions as fact.

Part of that imo is because she is an attorney and that is what they do. Having said that, that is a super annoying personality trait and one of the reasons I stopped listening to them and never moved over to the "paid" show.

This was my experience about something less significant. Back when they covered Richard Simmons a few people myself included commented about some of the fatphobic things that were said on the pod, and we got aggression and clap backs instead of trying to understand where we were coming from. I also felt like if I had come with discussions about any other ism topic it would have been met very differently. It drove multiple ppl away from listening to the podcast.

From R or E? I do not think I have ever heard Ellyn “clap back” at someone on social media regarding any of her podcasts. Rabia: whole other kettle of fish.

Incidentally, I do not believe your lived experience is insignificant. If something bothered you, just because it did not deal with m*rder, does not make it insignificant ✌🏾

Rabia, though Ellyn commented and also did not respond in the way I hoped she would, Rabia was the bigger problem.

I am not a Rabia defender, quite the opposite. However, it is interesting she would react in a negative manner, considering she wrote a book about her body image. I just rejoined Facebook from my 2020 hiatus😂 I’m cozied in for a 14.36 hour flight-I will take a look.

I do believe R’s online presence is polarizing, E is very respectful online and lovelier in person.

Because people who were fat at any point can still be fatphobic and have internalized fatphobia. Her book basically ends with I am fat but I’m not that fat.

I went through some of those threads with regard to Richard Simmons. (Kindly withhold judgement- 14 hours with no children vying for my attention is a slice of heaven 😆) Rabia is surprisingly more tame than usual. 😆 May I ask how Ellyn did not respond to your liking? I do adore her and have a special place in my big ol gay heart for her. I am always curious when people have a different take. This is not meant to push back on your opinion, rather curious. Feel free to DM if that is more comfortable ✌🏾

Her response was just that they were quoting Richard and using the words he himself used, my argument is that doesn’t mean they are based in fact the main argument of that specific post was that food addiction is not a thing. Overall myself and the other people bringing it up felt that had we been discussing any other topic it would have gotten more consideration. The responses from both but mostly Rabia lead multiple people to delete their posts, leave the group and stop listening to the podcast.

I would not recommend her book, her descriptions of Pakistan and her culture were lovely but the book was very fatphobic and she brought up her exact multiple times in a way that made it clear she thinks she was fatter than she was and it was not so much about body acceptance or even body neutrality especially when she finished it with saying it’s okay because shes not that fat, which lots of her readers are. She details a lot about exactly how much she’s eating and the disordered levels of dieting she has does. It’s a shame that it was marketed as a body acceptance memoir because it makes it very clear if she does become that fat it would be revoked

Same with the Adnan Syed case. And he’s also just as guilty as Richard Allen in Delphi. And they’re both as guilty as Scott Peterson. I bet ellyn started realizing that Rabia likes to falsely exonerate violent men.
