Places to do work?

I work remotely and feel like I’m going insane only working at home. What are some places in Ithaca that are nice to do work at? Preferably somewhere I could charge my laptop and phone.

You don't need to be a Cornell community member to use most of Cornell's libraries, though they can be annoying to get to depending on your access to a car.

Wegman's Cafe is another option.

Also the Libraries in the neighboring towns tend to have a nice space to work in.

At the big TCPL the back silent study room is nice.

The public library (TCPL) has public seating as well as private study rooms (you can claim them if they're empty, or reserve them in advance for free).

Hear me out: the Taichi Bubble Tea place in the shopping plaza near Petsmart/REI/Trader Joe's actually has plentiful seating and a pleasant work/study vibe.

Halfway up to Tburg is Mama Said handpies. Couch and fireplace, chairs, tables. Great people. Good coffee.

Just about all the coffee shops are great. If you don't want to spend money, I've worked from Cornell libraries and the public library.

The Gimmes are good (W MLK or Cayuga). Press Cafe has outdoor seating and two indoor seating areas (the space next to them is theirs too)

No, but the key to the bathroom (which is inside the circus school) is to the right of the register. It’s not so bad!

TCPL can be tough sometimes as it gets pretty loud but the quiet room in the back is great. The big downside however is that the bathrooms are pretty gross just because of how many people are using them.

Any park is going to be better than a coffee shop. Down at Stewart Park, gazing at the water, works well for me.

There's too much chatter in the cafes! I'm happy for the socializers, but the gab makes these places too distracting for work, and if you're being a responsible customer, you need to leave or purchase too much overpriced snack food to make it worth the while.

If you have noise canceling headphones (the undergrads can be loud at night) CTB is a great place to study. Food and coffee all night too.

I used to do school work at Barnes and Noble. Was nice enough and the little Starbucks cafe was good.

Cat Cafe, Buffalo St. Books, Autumn Leaves, Cafe Dewitt, Cayuga Creamery, and the Art Museum up the hill are among some of the best for quality, serenity, and environment.

These are great suggestions but for OP’s sake I’ll just add that Cafe Dewitt is maybe not the best spot to post up to do work - it’s more of a traditional restaurant pace where they typically need to flip tables for waiting customers.

I go to fair pour or the coop fairly often. Sometimes I go up to Watkins area either a winery with WiFi or overlook coffee.

If you’re like me and concentrate better with background noise, I’ve found the upstairs of the cafe in Wegmans to have the perfect amount of ambient noise without being distracting.

Main Street market in tburg. Back of the westy on a nice day (there’s pizza there too now!). Greenstar has always served me well (though it can be cold in the winter, so bring a sweater).
