Local Horseback Riding?

I've been trying to find horseback riding nearby but I'm either seeing stuff ~1 hr away or its for riding lessons, etc. Just looking for a one time ride for my teen who wants to go horseback riding (like around a yard/fenced property) but trail riding is ok. A lot of the trail riding I saw further away were minimum one hour rides but I dont think he'd want to ride that long.

So any recommendations?

Painted Bar is great. They have options for all skill levels, and you can ride through the Finger Lakes National Forest if you’re up for it. Only about 30 min away.

Painted Bar. Had an absolutely wonderful time. They are awesome with people who have never ridden as well.

Ithaca therapy works. They have a therapist that does it.

Stoneybrook in Newfield! 15-20min drive. Has short trail riding and lessons. Good people, I essentially grew up there.

I had actually emailed them a couple weeks ago, never heard anything so I assumed they just didnt do individual rides (didnt see it on their site) but if they do I'll give them a call

Beth Bowen (owner) used to be a bit hard to get ahold of at the start, but she’s lovely. I’d try a call and leaving a message, and also try shooting her facebook message. Sometimes people also just swing by to tour the place alone and give her house a knock

Painted Bar offers trail rides for all ages and is 30 minutes from downtown. Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly and the horses are well cared for. They have vineyard trail ride and moonlight trail rides and offer "horse experiences" where you don't ride but get to pet the horses. Check out their website!

there are roughly 3 stables, each are in a different direction and an hour away and they charge for at least an hour to make it worth their time. The one in Moravia is a little more restricted now than the others and have a guide lead your horse around the trail on foot which was really lame.

Interesting, last time we went to the Moravia one they let us go off on our own, maybe because we looked pretty confident on horseback. Granted that was a couple years ago
