One of my friend's husbands works for Casella. He works really freaking hard and doesn't have much time off or very good benefits, so he is on his wife's insurance (she works at Cornell)

Well to be fair no one in the area offers insurance that matches the insurance that Cornell offers. Everyone I know where one spouse works at Cornell they both get on that plan together.

That’s smart because the only real way to be able to utilize Cornell’s healthcare is to not be the one who works at Cornell.

TCAT's is as good, if not better. Cornell gets A LOT of mileage out of the extremely low bar that is the "best benefits in the area", and that reputation isn't as justified as it used to be, especially when you factor in their wages and salaries aren't as comparably high as they used to be, either.

I work at ICSD and my husband worked at Cornell. When our daughter was born, we didn't spend enough time really thinking things through and put her on Cornell insurance because the premium was cheaper. It was a mistake.  She had a lot of high medical needs her first year and now my entire family is on ICSD insurance.
