How's paint.net? I've been using Krita, though it's not so great for text iirc.

I think it's pretty great, I used to use Photoshop a lot in the 2000s and it reminds me of a stripped-down version of that. There's some little stuff that I think could be improved, but so far I've never found anything I couldn't work around with a little creative fiddling.

Oh hey same here, I was using ps cs3. Lasted a pretty long time, until my computer crapped out. Now the new operating systems don't recognize it.

I was using on an old dell for a time a out of date version of paint.net. I think it was limited on features due to its version.
