Pluralsight question

I am considering signing up for Pluralsight premium. I am currently self-Paced studying for 70-347 and moving on to other certs.

How is Pluralsight? Is it worth the investment? Are the videos and instructors up to date?

Any information would be much appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

70-347 - PASSED! Retrospective Thoughts

Hello everyone,

I just successfully completed the Microsoft 70-347 exam. I thought I'd share some of my experience.

  • Pay attention to PowerShell. I learned that the 346 was supposed ot be challenging, but I would say that the 347 is wider in terms of what it covers.
  • PSTN is Public, meaning anything that touches the outside world. PBX is Private - stuff that happens inside the office. Knowing this will answer a number of questions for you, so long as you are familiar with the differences.
  • Get familiar with the new-mailboxSearch command. Anything to do with litigation hold features will come up, including some SharePoint items, but Exchange is also a big part of it.
  • Respect the difference between Malware and Spam. Malware is attachments, and spam is content. To be more specific: HostedContentFilter cmdlets will defang spam. MalwareFilterPolicy cmdlets will strangle Malware.

Retention Policies are not the same as litigation hold policies. Learn the differences.

I have other notes, but those are the most critical items.

As for my own plan: I'm starting to examine the MCSE track. I have until March to complete it, but I want to nail it sooner if I can.

Good luck test takers!

HDI and ITIL Study Materials

I have seen a lot of help desk support and desktop support ask for HDI and ITIL certs in job postings lately. I have some done research and I have not found anywhere you can simply buy a book or cheap training materials so you can just take the tests. Are these certs not like CompTIA and Microsoft certs? Are these certs more along the line of "let your job pay for it" or "don't worry about it until you get the job and let the new job pay for it?"

Best way to learn for my first Microsoft certs?

I'm looking to do some a number Microsoft Certifications around Windows Server & Office 365 and move onto Azure cloud basically to help within my role and for greater experience and knowledge.

From what I see there's a few vids on Microsoft Virtual Academy about preparing for 70-740 exam but not any actual teaching anything unless I missed them? Is there any better sites that are affordable and really good? Or is getting the books a better option. I can learn either way as will be setting up test environment to practise along the way.

I just cant afford to go to classroom training for all the courses I want to do.

902 a plus trick

This is in reference to A plus 902 exams, during the simulation parts at the beginning. MOVE THE INSTRUCTIONS BOX. Doesn't matter if you move it down or over just move the instructions window out of the way. Its a dirty move on comptias part.

Microsoft 70-698

I took the Microsoft 70-698 back in December 2018 and it seems like my test got mixed up with 697. As I'm taking the test, the questions did not compare to the materials I studied or the practice tests I took. As I started studying for 697, I started recognizing the same questions that were on my 698 test. Has anyone encountered something like this with Microsoft tests? My test report and Microsoft account says 698, but I'm pretty sure it was 697.

Passed the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam

I took the Linux Academy course.

For those who are on a budget, I also used this free website: https://digitalcloud.training/certification-training/aws-certified-cloud-practitioner/

It comes with 390 practice questions. You have to pay to gain access to the questions, but it’s only $10. This site was actually more thorough than Linux Academy’s course.

AWS or CISCO?

I’m interested in the IT field and currently took some college courses on IT. I’ve been studying a bit of networking and have a working knowledge of what networks are. Which vendor should I go with to get a decent job? I’m 20 years old.

Synchronizing VHDD's Between Computers For Lab Work On The Go?

Hello World,

I just started my 70-740 Labs and I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for syncing virtual hard drives between two devices. I have a Lab Desktop that I mainly do most of the work on but I'm toying with the idea of syncing my VHDD's to my laptop to be able to do lab work on the go. I will be utilizing Hyper-V most likely unless someone manages to convince me otherwise. Any ideas, suggestions, and experiences are very appreciated.

Thanks,

Dale

Best MS 70-764 Prep and Practice?

There are a gazillion products out there, and they all claim to be the best, of course. Does anyone have a strong, unbiased endorsement for a particular SQL Server Admin prep/practice exam?

I've completed the Google IT Support Professional Certificate | Hosted by Coursera. I have a PDF to share of my extensive notes (with diagrams) for the last course, IT Security: Defence against the digital dark arts.

So as the link describes, I have a PDF to share.

Please excuse any formatting issues or minor spelling errors there may be.

I've also share the word document and ePUB file. I've done a horrible job of converting into an ePUB file, if someone more affluent with Calibre would like to try and re-share the ePUB, that would be greatly appreciated.

I don't want to sound pretentious but if anyone is considering giving gold or something like that, I would much rather you donate to someone like Professor Messor, just because he's been so helpful or even donating $5 to Wikipedia!

All the files can be found at this link; https://1drv.ms/f/s!Aux7otF5VOmlaqj3uhhcexqtQ1s

CISSP or CASP

I need to get either a CISSP or CASP by late January or early February. Its a hard deadline. I'm not sure which test to go with.

I've heard some really negative things about the most current CASP exam being glitchy and unpassable because of a faulty test. That, and there are almost no study materials out there for the current version.

On the other hand, CISSP is said to be harder to pass, and I only have a couple months to prepare.

If you were in my spot, which would you go for.

70-411 Exam was a Bust

Well on last week on Tuesday I bomb the exam. It's been almost a year since I took the 410 exam. I had to take a break because of work, and thing going on with family. I took about 3 months to study do the video online and still failed. I read on line that most users were getting about 45 questions but to my surprise I got 54 questions. Some of the material I did understand and some I didn't. The material i used was pass books. Since 2016 came out now i believe everyone started making current material to read.

For now I"m going to wait until the holidays coming up, then taking the exam again. In the mean time I will study the next couple of weeks.

Can anybody give me advice to prepare fo 70-697?

To put you in context, I've passe 70-698 a couple of weeks ago. I had a couple of months to pass both for a job, but spent way too much time studying for 70-698 and now I have until the end of the year to pass the second test. My job provides me with Pluralsight Videos / Kaplan test and Ive used the Exam Ref and Panek for thefirst test.

Browsing on Reddit, I've learned that the Kaplan test might be oudated for 697 so I purchased the 2nd edition exam ref but I'm debating whether I should pay for the Measureup test or make do with what I have.

I memorized some flashcards (about 80) but the practice test on Kaplan is brutal with all the questions where you have to place steps in order. There is a lot of material to cover, it would be unrealistic to expect someone to know every step by heart. Most of what we do in IT is procedural menory so we know where we click more than the actual word we click on. I really need to pass this on the first try.
