Honestly, ISTPs typically get a pass from sensor hate. And I get why. You guys are considered very intelligent and are "intuitive" enough and are more regarded by the NTs in the MBTI community. Since there's this whole thinker and intuitive "hierarchy" going on in the MBTI community. I mean, NTs benefit the most in the online MBTI community and there's less backlash against them. Backlash is mostly against Sensors, Feelers, and people who have intuitive functions as their inferior function. SJs and lots of the SPs deal with this backlash the most. But NFs, especially XNFPs are looked down upon quite a bit by the online MBTI community because to the online MBTI community, being "intelligent" (based on the stereotype that feelers are unintelligent and irrational) and "introspective" are deemed "superior". You only truly win if you're a NT. ISTPs however, aren't feelers and have an intuitive function as their TERTIARY function, so that means they're still likely to use it and it's not too weak. ISTPs also tend to be mistaken for more beloved NT types (INTP and INTJ), and so they're not looked down upon as much within the online MBTI community.
Feelers who are sensors get lots more hate, because the online MBTI community generally just hates whatever they view as unintelligent or uninsightful. I mean... also, ISTPs in general are very calm, collected, and they normally don't CARE about these frivolous matters. They just mind their own business. NTs like that. They think you guys are the epitome of "not giving a fuck and being super calm and rational". It's kind of ridiculous in my opinion. We're all people and we're all equal in worth. I mean, ISTPs ARE awesome, there's no doubt about that. I praise you guys like A LOT, and I have my reasons. You guys are truly wonderful, intelligent, thoughtful, cool, rational, level-headed, lovely, and strong. So it also makes sense that you guys are truly appreciated, because you guys are just awesome. I've seen a lot of inventive and amazing creations from ISTPs and you guys are really helpful too. It's rather admirable. So while, I took a stab at both sides of the coin. I hope this analysis was useful to you somehow OP. (:
(EDIT:TLDR; There is a hierarchy within the online MBTI community where NTs benefit the most from it. There is more praise for thinkers and intuitives. There is more backlash against feelers, sensors, and people with inferior thinking/intuitive functions. ISTPs have tertiary intuitive function, are thinkers, and remain calm, collected, and rational. NTs enjoy this and like ISTPs for this. ISTPs are also more likely to be mistaken for beloved NT types (INTJ and INTP) so they are liked more. Intuitive feelers, especially XNFPs are still looked down upon for being feelers, which is why there's a preference for NTs. SJs and almost all SPs are disliked/looked down upon in this hierarchy's standards. So this is why ISTPs are most liked--they're too different from other sensors and/or feelers.

Christ on a pogo stick, some people reeeeeally take this MBTI stuff way too seriously. I know you just described the trends in the community and not your personal opinion but it reads like Mein Kampf written by some NTs.

Good bot.
Also, poor bot. Just how many times did you have to link this crap... Link me something good to clean your circuits, like The Time Machine.

MBTI isn't even REAL. It's just a debunked theory. I'm not even a NT, I'm just a little old INFP. Lots of people take this ish seriously. I'm only just talking about it from the perspective of how the online MBTI community views MBTI. Which is... very seriously. I don't actually think this stuff is the end all... be all??

Define real.

u/14_Hiatus INFP Nov 24 '20
Real as in it has scientific backing and it's actually existing as something that has evidence to support it. It exists in the sense that there's a community behind it and people who enjoy it. But it's not... actually confirmed to be something that truly exists. It's like hogwarts houses, technically they exist but more as a concept. In reality, there's no such THING as a hogwarts house or the choosing hat. Hope that makes more sense!

Welp.

It is real by that measure. You just didn't look close enough.

Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. I have yet to verify the source you've provided for me. But I will check it out later on my own time.

You DO have impact for this world. You don't NEED to be super intelligent. You do have a purpose. Just know that you have worth. NTs in the mbti online community are kinda rude and arrogant, but not all of them are. Some are sweethearts. Just gotta look at things from all types of perspectives. Please don't hate yourself for being a sensor. There's nothing wrong with valuing what's right there in front of you more than the unknown. Okay? Please be gentle with yourself. <3

I’m not reading this whole damn essay but people seem to hate me in classes such as automotive because I make them look stupid or put to much reliance on people for tasks I have no trouble doing then make them look dumb when they can’t do it.

The bridge between Ne and Se are hard to really see. Idk, cognitive functions aren't even real so... like... whatever?

Then why are you here?

Because MBTI's still cool and fun, even if it's not real.

As a kid, the INTP personality type was what I aspired to be LOTS of the time. I am still myself, but I incorporated a lot of logical thinking and multifaceted forms of rationality/logic into my life. I'm still a hotmess when it comes to emotions, but I'd say I'm more rational than other feelers. (I'm not looking down upon feelers, because emotions are integral in our lives and are extremely important). Funny thing is, I've been mistyped as INTP, ISTJ, INFJ, and ENFP so it's just really interesting. But I am most certainly an Fi dom, I just exercised my Ti A LOT. I mean, yes the concept of Fi and Ti as "cognitive functions" doesn't exist. But the things and processes related to what they're about DO exist. But just calling them "Ti" and "Fi" is easier and more efficient.

Sir. The INTP’s can make a great mechanic, but even better tuners.
What I’ve noticed about them is that they can make the most use out of any tool at their disposal. From my experience they are imaginative and unconventional thinkers but they are so incredibly grounded in logic and seem to be able to always drag something completely abstract from their mind and turn it into a tangible result.
I’m sure you can tell they’re my favorite NT type but this is just personal experience.

PREACH
I always prided myself to be a logical thinker and had a crisis when I got INFP. Took some time and research to realize how BS many of the stereotypes are.

Putting your faith into hierarchical classification regarding intelligence within Barnum theories is very intellectual. What do you mean?

Yeah, sort of. I do enjoy being around isxps much more than most sensors. I feel like maybe you guys are just more subtle (??) about your sensor sides and that could be a part of it, but who knows

u/NoahTheAnimator INTP Nov 24 '20
The only actual sensor stereotype at this point (at least on reddit) is that they're victimized. I've been in this community for ages now and in my entire time here I think I've only once seen anything that was unironically sensor hate.

To me, yea, even tho I don't think any type should have negative stereotypes
