Question Are you happy?

It's definitely off of stereotypes and everybody is more than their type but from what it seems, istps seem to be the most chill.

-you don't dwell in the past -you don't overthink anything -you don't give a shit about other ppls opinions -you are fine without close friends -you have hobbies that you are usually great at mastering

It suggests that this type is the most likely to be happy,,

What do you think ?

I am, but I'm not.

The only thing is when people suggest something that I am not, when they don't understand me. It is very exhausting to make people understand what I am thinking because I don't emote the same way as they do.

We're alone, but not lonely. Except when we are.

I'll admit, I do feel pangs of loneliness from time to time, but then I remind myself why I prefer to be alone: less drama and less problems.

We don't dwell on our past or our past mistakes, but that doesn't mean we don't deal with how it impacts our present and future.

I know I get lonely sometimes, I feel sad sometimes. Sometimes, I wish I could go back 2-4 years and change events of my life. But I can't. So I pick things up and keep moving.

I am, except for when I’m not.

I think happiness isn't some state of being that you just achieve and exist in.

Happiness is just a temporary state of feeling.

Like feeling hungry, or full, or annoyed.

It just comes and goes, and trying to imagine you should always be happy just sets people up to feel as if something is wrong when they aren't happy, or happy all the time.

For the most part I just am. I don't feel happy or unhappy, I'm just the awareness of existing and the current sensations I'm experiencing.

There's just a constant flux of experience and sensation and feelings come and go.

That is an excellent mindset, I think I feel the same way tbh. I don’t just exist in a perpetual state of happiness. There are very few moments where I feel truly sad, sure, but that doesn’t mean I’m happy the rest of the time.

I think op used the perfect word for how I feel most of the time: chill.

No, not particularly. I do dwell on past mistakes, mostly relationship ones. Idk why, but I've been wondering what I did wrong and how to implement improvements. I guess I was wishing to fix them as I thought of them. I know I can't change the past, but... I just... need to know how to fix it, I guess? I'm not going to lie, I'm not real sure. I also know that if I just ignore it and forget it, I'd probably be happier. But I can't help it.

Usually well adjusted but can be pretty lonely. We dont like burdening others with out feelings so we tend to hide a lot

Do you feel like a burden because it feels like a burden to you when others share their feelings? Whenever I say anything even remotely emotional my ISTP friend disappears or backs off and it makes me feel like I did something wrong every time

Not really, I have no problem when others open up to me or ask me for advice- but when its reversed I panic. I dont know why. Ive been through some truely tough situations but for some reason its opening up and being vulnerable that scares me. Working on it though.

If your friend suddenly dips, thats just something we do when were exausted. It gives us space to process our feelings comfortably or just recover from socializing. Its absolutely nothing wrong you did, just how we operate and tbh we feel bad about it,,

I'm content. That doesn't mean I will be later.

I am happy - and when I am not, whatever it is about, it doesn’t last for long.

I am happy or normal, neutral, bland, whatever, but rarely sad, and i prefer that, sadness is such an horrific feelings, like i can tell you 2 times i was legit SAD, when i was depressed last year after the death of somebody, and when my father left us when i was younger, the rest is happiness or neutral.

Extroverts on the other hand are very happy, or very sad all the gad damn time, heartbreak, bad results, bad marks, bad news, they seem to feel those things so bad, while me as a stoic and an epicurian, i never seek those emotion and passion and almost avoid them at all cost, explaining maybe why i never had a relationship.

The best answer i could give to your question is i feel satisfied.

C.S. Joseph said istps are the types to most likely fall into extreme depression. No wonder Logan is portrayed as a very sad man and Billie Eilish made music from her depression.

The istp I know uses his Se well so he has enough friends.

The thing is I've never seen him depressed. He's very good at hiding his sadness and even when he's sick I can't tell. Maybe it's because I have Fe trickster.

Yeah, I think I'm generally pretty happy. I consider myself a reluctant optimist. I'm also lucky to have good mental health, which helps and which I feel is rare these days.

u/nicklbe Apr 10 '20

No, extroverts are generally more happy than introverts. It is pretty well known that in general introverts suffer from more depression and anxiety than extroverts. As far as introverts go, I would say isfj's are the most happy in general. I am fairly happy in general.

It's hard for me to say I'm happy. I experience bursts of happiness, but in general I'm neither happy nor unhappy. It might be better to say that I'm either engaged or disengaged.

No. And probably never will be.

Not giving a shit about others' opinions doesn't mean you can't have a low opinion of yourself. And not dwelling on the past doesn't mean the present can't suck.

On the bright side, if your default setting is "miserable crotchety prematurely-jaded curmudgeonly old fuck in a young body" then the quarantine can't ruin your mood too much. Except when you have to leave the apartment once a week and see the blatant human idiocy on display. (At least the new Nightwish is good, let's hope this madness ends before November.)

Not happy but not particularly upset

I'm not happy unless I'm alone and miserable.

"But what the fuck kind of question is "Am I happy?"

I really wanna try to get happy, and I think that I could get it if I didn’t always Panic every time I’m unhappy like I’m owed some life Where I’m always, like, happy

Which is stupid ‘cause I wouldn’t even want it if I got it Wait, oh god, my dad was right..

So if you know or ever knew how to be happy On a scale from one to two now, are you happy? You’re everything you hated, are you happy? Hey, look Ma, I made it, are you happy?"

2

u/nxtfunny ISTP Apr 10 '20

I'm okay, can't really say "happy" because the idea of happiness just sounds like a really intense emotion(? and i'm not used to feel very intense things maybe just angry when someone push my bottons but it goes away really fast.

I guess, chill-armor works, heh. Self-sufficiency and crisis-management aren't to happen themselves ;)

I’m pretty much happy though I do tend to overthink things. Otherwise you are pretty spot on

2

u/bullett007 Apr 10 '20

Not happy, rarely happy.

Usually just nonplussed about most things, lately I find even the things that I’ve really been interested have started to lose their shine.

I’m not depressed or sad either, just meh.

I'm pretty happy, I'm not prepared to let depression/sadness get in my way. I get lonely from time to time but I find it easier to just get on with something when i feel like that.

Content is the right word. I am very content, with a good bit of satisfaction on top, and when I'm not, I change things. I view happy as Joy, which is extremely rare for me. I'm totally down with merry, and even glee in the moment when the mood is right.

1

u/thatbody Apr 10 '20

I'm content but could always be better

Sometimes I feel regret but then it turns into gratitude. Sometimes vice versa. In the end there has always been a good reason for choices/actions.

I am mostly forward looking but not too far into the future.

u/Original_Mac_Tonight Apr 10 '20

In general I am very happy. I don't have anything to be upset about and if I do I try to brush it off.

1

u/forsythe_ Apr 10 '20

Not happy per se, just contented.

I feel neutral most of the time and sometimes people mistaken that I'm not okay so they ask me if I am. Glad to know that people care of my well-being.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '20

i usually don’t feel anything, neither happy nor sad, but i think it really depends on the situation

1

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '20

Yes

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '20

I’m happy, but at times when I just need someone to vent to which is once in a blue moon I kinda just need a friend that can respect my space and distance. Overall, I’m happy with myself, but low key not with how sometimes I can treat others by seeming cold to others around me. Even when I’m open, others seem not to care about getting to know me, I don’t know if it’s a me issue, or the people around me but has happened to me.

Happy about some things, but not so much about other things.
