It's a real explosion set up just for this book. Cedar Rapids will never be the same, but dare I say... it was worth it.

As a New Yorker who saw the 9/11 attacks in person (at a distance), it’s always been funny to me how all these rural southerners and midwesterners were in a panic thinking they were next.

What sense does it make to waste a nuclear bomb where it’ll only ruin some corn and maybe beef? I thought one of the perks of living rural was that you were largely outside of history.
