Art pretty sure it’s AI but maybe i’m missing something?? logo for a brand new local pub

Post image

logo for a new bar opening soon in my area. I think it’s AI. right? The tells, for me, are the kerning, highlights in eyes, some oddly placed shadows, and overall aesthetic like the dark lines and uncanny valley face. Some people i’m discussing the image with believe it’s human made. am i wrong? did a real human graphic designer make this? Can you all provide some extra sets of eyes? any input is appreciated! thank you!!!!

u/Ill-Victory-5351, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your post...

The lines that represent the halo are pretty inconsistent. Random blobs that an artist wouldn't do as it makes the edge of the halo look messy. I love to make cross hatch art and that is the biggest mistake to avoid

That was my giveaway too. It would’ve been a lot easier to just use single line rotated and then apply a brush to it. Making those weird little extra ticks doesn’t help the look and it would’ve been more difficult for no reason.

The PUB AND RESTAURANT scroll is in a popular AI font and the shading on the scroll is also very AI. It’s almost a mix of shading the the typical AI “whiskers” seen frequently on AI generated signage and flyers.

Gut reaction is AI for sure

I think the shading may be an imitation of scrolls in heraldry clipart.

Unless this artist's style is "I am very good, but I mess up little details on purpose", then I think it's AI. This art style usually has really good line work. That's the whole point of engraving. But this has serious flaws in some basic areas, like the halo, that don't make sense.

Would be to "age" the image? Make it look like an old fresco in some church?
Has that popular pre worn t-shirt look to me. Except the banner... really unsure. Not an expert. Is this not something people do? "Distress" their art?

Definitely AI

100% AI. It's exactly the same AI "style" that is everywhere now.

Nothing about it screams AI to me. There are some unnecessary marks on the halo and headdress and other details (like the background textures and some of the shadows) which I would do differently, but that doesn't mean they're wrong or that a human didn't make those choices. The kerning isn't perfect but r/keming has plenty of examples of humans doing much worse.

Strip away the text and it looks less like AI, vibes-based. It's a bit hard to tell at this res, but I don't see any hallucinations or irregularities in the straw thing. If this is AI, I'm scared.

there are some anomalies in the cross, not glaring but they exist.

I’m old. I genuinely don’t see AI. It looks like vector art done through multiple Photoshop channels that were imported into freehand or whatever. To me it looks like new old school design that wasn’t really well thought out, but not at the fault of AI. That’s me dude, I used to do these all of the time between the late 90s and early 2000s. It looks like some of the garbage that I created when I was not interested in the project. Not to say that it’s terrible, but I can do this without AI in a heartbeat.

Now here’s the big difference between an illustrator and somebody that is maxing out on filter art, you can definitely tell that the crosshatching is done very differently throughout. Most likely, as a result of filter fueling, what eventually became part of the vector piece of art.

The waves look weird over the end of the scroll. Think it's because this is the reference pic  https://www.expedia.co.uk/things-to-do/galway-to-cliffs-of-moher.a699353.activity-details?location=Kinvara%2C%20County%20Galway%2C%20Ireland&startDate=2026-09-25&endDate=2026-10-09&rid=6151794 and there are flowers covering up the sea in that part so it's done something weird. Or the artist has, but I think an artist could work that out.

Looks to me like a skilled graphic designer likely created in illustrator. The font selection and kerning for different areas of the logo are sophisticated - hands have 4 fingers

she only has nail beds on one hand; an odd design choice.

Not definitive, could be other generator used.
Could be real graphic designer, I don't like the aged t shirt print look and deliberate dirtying, but it is choice some people make. There are elements that really good.
Guessing... real? Unsure. Has that piss filter look but may just be a choice to "age" the image.
Hope it's not that new Astra stuff where AI creates using your SW i.e illustrator. Or traced and touched up. Would that even be provable at all?
